Running (xc/terrain) 52:05 [4] 7.5 km (6:57 / km)
ahr:160 max:168 shoes: inov-8 oroc 280 red - 1st pair

Benchmark terrain route...
1. 44:35

Felt much better today energy-wise but my left hamstring was feeling the extra push. I'll just stick to the terrain/hills as much as possible and not try anything stupid like intervals for the moment, wait and see if I can be bothered to try and improve things or maybe things improve anyway, hopefully.

Really icy now and glad to report that my feet had no problems with the 280s.

ahr:159 max:168 shoes: inov-8 mudclaw 330

Same as Sunday but a little bit more of the route. Felt marginally better than on Sunday. Getting a lot more icy out there, Mudclaws not the correct choice but fortunately no crashes.

At least I haven't eaten all the pies. It was around this time last year that I started a 120 day training plan to get ready for the Oringen/Scottish. I was over 90kg back then plus I didn't have the sort of Winter behind me that I have now. All is not lost.
5 PM

Running (trail/terrain) 38:45 [4] 5.0 km (7:45 / km)
ahr:158 max:167 shoes: inov-8 mudclaw 330

Most of my benchmark terrain route, thought it best to stay away from the trails. Still quite a lot of snow about regardless of the warm weather. First time running without hat/gloves this year.

It went ok body-wise but all the usual places complaining slightly. Felt pretty wobbly and uncoordinated. Still felt a little ill too but the biggest problem was that I'm so tired from not sleeping enough.

Note

150/1000 days.

So the wheels fell off. Lost a fair bit of motivation after the only the second interval session and kind of gave up and accepted that I can't be bothered to do what it takes to get my body coping with running fast.

Then I caught a cold and failed to provide myself with the right environment to get rid of it quickly - disappointed that I've let my work situation get mental again, this 1000 days idea was supposed to be about prioritisation.

On top of all that some of the early season ranking events I was planning on doing have been cancelled because of the snow and my last ditch effort to achieve my goal was based around a 4 day event on the May bank holiday weekend which we are, whatever happens, now not going to do.

Time to get back up again.

Running (road/xc) 57:05 [4] 11.5 km (4:58 / km)
ahr:161 max:170 shoes: inov-8 mudclaw 330

'Around Bansjön via Alby 4km' Strava segment, except I didn't start and finish at the right place so no CR. Got my 10km best effort down to 48:38 though, all very important ;)

Didn't go eyeballs out but took it fairly hard, especially on the hills. Going out to my favourite Indian for lunch a couple of hours prior not a good idea, no surprise.

The Alby 4km loop was pretty hard going what with the crunchy snow but otherwise it was fine, packed and hard.

Static Stretching & Massage (static) 22:00 [0]

Hmm, left hamstring definitely a problem. I hesitate to make comparisons with last Spring/Summer, feels like a slightly different issue. Or maybe just not quite as serious as back then.

On many levels I just don't feel like I have what it takes to get my body into this anaerobic training. It's not too late to stretch a bit more and start some conditioning work, that's not the problem. I just want to run and can't be arsed with the rest.

One man and his mudclaws, went to stomp a meadow. Over 7km running in a spiral, mostly shin deep but nearly up the knees at times. Tough work, body complaining in several ways but nothing serious.
