Note
(sick)

Yeah well if it's not bad enough that my ankle is immobilized for at least 2 months I've only managed to catch something nasty too. Euurgghh.

Tuesday Nov 17, 2020 #

Note

Ankle arthroscopy with microfracture operation.

Seemed to go ok but afterwards a complete nightmare getting home. First taxi driver got away with driving fast and jerky but was feeling very dodgy after that, getting my immobilisation boot. For some reason I couldn't actually get the thing in advance, only once I'd had the op could I go and get it. A small puke in a paper bin whilst waiting for the 2nd taxi.

Then the 2nd driver was much worse, really erratic. I had the window open to try and keep my cool but about half way home he took a wrong turn and had to spin the car around. That was it. Puked all down the side of his car. Ha.

Swimming (indoor) 18:30 [1] 0.55 km (33:38 / km)
ahr:119 max:147

Last chance to dance before operation tomorrow, jumped into the big pool while Hugo was having his lesson and banged out 22 lengths in anger.

Note

At the orthopedic surgeon again, reviewing the MRI scan. Disaster - blatantly shows the onset of osteoarthritis in a fairly significant way. He asked me how important it was that I could run :S

Ankle arthroscopy with microfracture procedure will be performed on Tuesday. It's a massive blow, out for season injury again within 2 years of the fractured knee.

Trying to be grateful that it can be done so quickly and during the pandemic too. Something to do with the special nature of this particular clinic, not connected to any hospital.

Note

Physio - seems that I have made some improvements, wasn't expecting that opinion. Tibialis tendon seems to be more flexible now and got given a harder version of the exercise for the peroneal tendon.
12 PM

Cycling long (road) 2:26:10 [2] 55.3 km (2:39 / km) +395m 2:33 / km
ahr:133 max:150 shoes: schwalbe marathon

Around the lake and national park route. Tough at the end.

Note

Brain MRI scan. Seems like a lot of money being spent when it's now pretty obvious that August and September's persistent headaches solved by medical yoga were of the tension variety. Oh well, nice to know for sure that it wasn't anything more serious I guess.
10 PM

Static Stretching & Massage 25:00 [0]

Monday Nov 9, 2020 #

Rowing (indoor) 12:25 [2] 3.0 km (4:08 / km)

Level 0.

Walking (road/xc) 1:08:10 [1] 8.5 km (8:01 / km)
ahr:123 max:149 shoes: walsh pb trainer

Tried a brisk walk to see if the ankle could cope with that. The goal was to do the medium trail route at around 8 mins/km but it got too painful and stopped the watch with only 2.5km left.

Cycling (road) 1:40:40 [2] 40.4 km (2:30 / km) +280m 2:24 / km

Around the national park route.

Cycling (road) 1:41:55 [3] 41.1 km (2:29 / km) +255m 2:24 / km
ahr:149 max:157 shoes: schwalbe marathon

Around the lake and ski slope route again - this week with much more effort.

Note

Ankle MRI scan.

Note

Went down to the hospital on my birthday to get some eye x-rays done - important before MRI scans when one has had one or more metal splinters stuck in the past. Sounds reasonable.
