Running 1:01:00 [3]

Wicked hot out. 91F and about a million% humidity. Spent the morning making pancakes, sunbathing and generally doing a whole lot of nothing. Clouds came rolling in around 4 and in hoping that it would be getting cooler, I decided to get out for a run before I REALLY didn't want to go, which is inevitable when it gets to be dinnertime.
Ran the Daniels Rd loop in typical time, not blazing fast nor terribly slow, though it certainly felt awfully slow... I think my AHR was about 10+bpm higher than usual for the same time! Fortunately, Kristoffer had suggested that I take some water with me (a silly thing to do most of the time for an easy hour run) but oh.my.god. I easily drank all of the bottle and was dizzy and crawling (though I would still call it a run at least) for the last 20mins!
By far the hottest run that I've done (voluntarily at least) in a really long time, if not ever.
Hosed down back home which felt amazing...and made me more lightheaded.

Soccer 20:00 [2]

Pickup 3 on 3 with the Stapleys in the back yard. My team won, but only due in large part to the great ball-hogger Max Stapley.
The rest of the day was spent at the swimming hole, getting scorched and jumping in the river, then bbq'ing and crashing while watching the wimbledon finals. too much sun. or wine. or both.

Mtn Biking 3:00:00 [3]

Kingdom Trails with Kristoffer and the Stapley's: Paul, Sophie, Max et Finn, friends via XTERRA from Montreal
Split up for the first few hours and K, Paul and I hit up some of our old favorites, then met up with Sophie and the boys back at the car to refill bottles and grab some food. Then headed out all together to get real lunch down at the top of Old Webs, yum! Then some more riding to get back to the car. The boys did great, even though we took them on a double black with lots of roots and a narrow bridge! (Max is 11 and Finn is almost 8!)
This was the kind of Kingdom day that I always wanted to do... ride a few hours in the am, then picnic lunch, then ride some more... just chill, lots of good riding, chatting.. and today was perfect! ;o)

Note
(rest day)

Umm. 'nother rest day?
Movie night... means leave work at 5, drive faster than normal to get home, drop off the dog, feed and water him, and plant some flowers that I picked up at the farm stand, (all taking less than 2mins) then drive faster than we should over to Lincoln to get into the movie 30s before it starts at 6:30.
Knight and Day. Entertaining, kind of cheesy but pretty hilariously funny, but worth watching.. it all works together.
Kingdom tomorrow! third bike ride of the year... (outside) ... and first mtn biking!! wow. quite a difference from last season..

Note

Umm... rest day?
Super tired, sleepy tired, all day. Not much energy when we got home, but had tons of house chores to do including fixing the washer/dryer, doing laundry after its fixed, weeding and mulching the garden, staking tomatoes, fencing the squash which are getting destroyed by scratching chickens, cleaning the coop, hanging laundry, picking salad, cleaning the kitchen, cleaning up the trash strewn about the woods by our giant black bear last night and finally, making dinner... of which consisted of lettuce, dill and chives grown in our garden and poached eggs produced by our chickens! Talk about local! mmmmmm

Running intervals 1:03:00 [3]

Track Wednesday with Ken
Plan was 4x400 @1.35, 4x300 @63, 4x200 @37, faster than last week (but less distance over all).
A few warmup laps and then we got to it. Much much windier today and that put a real damper on things. Struggled with nearly all of these, despite going faster than the proposed paces. Even the 200's weren't as much fun as last time since that turn was directly in to a good steady wind.
But, the drastic difference in feel/strenght/speed today in the wind vs last week with no wind makes me feel better about my 3kTT, since that was in nearly exact same conditions as today! Wonder how much faster I could've done if no wind?

Running hills 1:05:00 [3] 10.73 km (6:03 / km)
ahr:158 max:178

Quick warmup, from the house to Daniels Rd hill, for about 19mins with some running drills along the road when I got there.
I had run this hill last fall and remember it being about 1.15 up to the top, getting steeper as it goes. I also remember it being really freakin' hard.
Decided to do 6 of these, not too many since track workout is tomorrow. Felt decent first three, running them easy, med, hard (ish). They all felt hard. Took the last three similarly.
Quick run home afterwards too to watch Spain v. Portugal... Go Spain!

Core strength 8:00 [1]

3x30ball crunches and 3x20 girlie pushups. Need to do more of this.
