A few laps, working on 12-hour pace. Felt good, a bit fast.

3 of the 4 corners -- skipped a good bit of climb, for sure. Beautiful day. New shoes did great for their first big outing. :)

First run in new Topo Athletic MT-2s. I'm not magically 2 minutes per mile faster. Sending them back. :)

They felt fine, maybe a bit too much lateral movement at the forefoot, but I was wearing double-layer socks, so we'll see how singles do. They are light, cushiony but not overly. Tread has enough grip. Good flex (no rock plate). They are a bit wider overall, and it will likely take a few runs to get used to that.

Kicked it up a bit on the second lap, and they handled it just fine. I hope these work out, as the price is good, and the width feels so sweet.

Note

No running, but new shoes, socks, headlamp strap, and gels on the way to motivate / guilt me into some more work. Going to try out a new (to me) shoe vendor, Topo Athletic, and their real wide toebox (but supposedly solid fit), and bit more cushion (for me).

Note

The skyr ("skeer") yogurt did not disappoint! Best yogurt I've ever made, yum!

Running long (5 x Smedley Laps) 2:12:42 [3] 13.28 mi (10:00 / mi) +1636ft 8:57 / mi
shoes: New Balance MT101 v1 (10 2E)

Beautiful day for a post-big-rain Mother's Day trot.

Felt good for first 2, then terrible on the 3rd for some reason, and almost quit. Snapped out of it ("just one more, and I'll see how I feel") and finished the 2 hours. Left hip was buggin' me a bit ... maybe more left buttock. Sciatic nerve?

A new tulip tree down across the trail. Pretty fat! Good challenge getting over smoothly and quickly.

Happy Mother's Day, all you Mothers.

Note

Darned rain. So I'm making an Icelandic Provisions Skyr yogurt (yum) clone. We'll see how it turns out ... if it's anything close to the real deal, score! They heavily 'greek' (strain) it, which I'm not going to do for this first batch, just to see whether the basic cultures work in my simple setup. Fingers crossed!

Note

Trained my gut and did a mega-protein meal today at Fogo de Chão. Oh, the meat! And the salad bar is really the best salad bar ever. Yum!!

Another run with a different runner at Penn. Fun! Nice for an easy Thu jog. I should do more of this.

weight:159.4lbs shoes: New Balance RC1400v4 10D

Cool (52F) & the occasional misty rain and breezy breezes made this run a fun time. Focusing on arm form got me negative splits and feeling fast, or at least kind of strong.

Got my pullups up to 2. Sheesh.

1 mi warmup, 0.5 mi warmdown.

Tried pull-ups the other day, and could only do ONE. Holy smokes. New goals. Burpees & pull-ups.
