Running (Z2 Grass) 36:25 [2] 4.1 mi (8:53 / mi) +194ft 8:30 / mi
weight:160.8lbs shoes: Adidas adiZero Hagio 2

Not too bad in the shade, pretty hot in the sun. Nice to get out, felt sluggish around mile 3.

Running (1 x Crum Laps) 1:07:14 [2] 6.38 mi (10:32 / mi) +476ft 9:51 / mi
slept:9.0 weight:158.6lbs shoes: Inov-8 Trailroc 245 (1st pair)

Ankle felt fine, although still a tiny bit swollen, blisters all trimmed and good, if a bit thin and sensitive.

Hot (88F) + humid (60%) = 95F index. Good to get out ... felt lousy for 3 miles then okay for the rest. Sweating out (still, 30 minutes and an icy shower later) the toxins from VA Beach vacation. Great time!

Swimming (450 yards) 10:00 [1] 0.26 mi (39:09 / mi)
weight:163.3lbs shoes: Bare Feet

The pool is JUST what my ankle needed!

Note

Blisters no longer a factor, ankle/shin still a bit smarty, but icky puffiness almost gone.

First ever 30-minute massage (focused on legs and lower back) at Penn gym was superb! Legs now feel leaden and I feel sleepy. Just right! :)

Going to try a short recovery swim / cycle / swim tomorrow, if I have time.

Note

I believe this is the farthest I've ever gone in 24-hours, by about 8 miles. I thought I could/would do about 48 mi this time, but the northern map was a lot flatter than we thought it would be, and Sam was quite the task master. Just kidding ... we were both pretty in to pushing ourselves. He could have done a lot more! All those peanut butter sandwiches.

Rogaining race (CNYO 24-hr Rogaine) 22:25:46 [1] 57.88 mi (23:15 / mi) +3727ft 21:55 / mi
shoes: Adidas adiZero XT

CNYO 24-hour Rogaine with Sam Kolins! I thought I was ready. It was very hard on my feet (why did I swap shoes at the hash house?), and the amount of mud on the ground was amazing.

* Cows in the dark are scary (a little less than buffalo)
* Barbed wire fences are scary, tricky, and tedious after dozens and dozens
* The glens were where the awesome woods were. Stunning
* The map was excellent
* The food at the hash house was superb
* CNYO knows how to do a rogaine!

* * *

Sam was a great team captain, with a good plan, and incredible performance. We ended up doing more than I expected, assuming the GPS is accurate in any way.

Note: looking at the track, it looks pretty good besides starting at #1 instead of at the start (must have took a while to get a signal). So probably another mile tacked on there.

I have never seen anyone eat so much food. Awesome! It was a lot of fun spending the day/night/day with you, Sam.

* * *

May have a minor high ankle sprain (right), or maybe it's just a strain exacerbated by 24-hours of pounding, a good bit on road, which I'm not really used to. Have some pretty ugly blisters, and definitely losing left big toenail. The amount of time that my big blistery feet were steeping in cow poopy water makes me a bit worried. I may get prophylactic tetanus shot (barbed wire) and antibiotics (16 hour poop stew soak). See how I feel in the morning. ;)

Probably some more thoughts after some sleep.

Running warm up/down 31:50 [1] 3.35 mi (9:30 / mi) +69ft 9:19 / mi
weight:161.2lbs shoes: Adidas adiZero Hagio 2

Jog around Penn Park (Franklin Field was closed) ... I was going to do steps, I'm glad I didn't, as my legs aren't back from Saturday's run, and they need to be fresh for CNYO Rogaine this weekend.
