NSW State League 13 at the Tank Paddock
Course Hard 1: M35A
First runner out, so I could back to start volunteer job, meant I was waking up nearly every control I came to. Ended up with an MP as no 16 (439) didn't register. Doh!
Still, it was an immensely enjoyable run.
The heavy rain that been predicted to last all day had only just eased up before I went out,but I still got soaked to the skin before reaching the first control.
No.5 Slowing down to look for the re-entrant bit soon (15-20 secs),
No 8.Hadnt looked carefully enough at the what feature the circle was placed on, and hadn't the control descs., Thought I'd stuffed up completely when I saw a control with a different number, but once I commenced relocation process I quickly realised (c 60 secs).
No. 22 Too many tracks to use for nav across the open, so aimed for the 'white' I could see, but then needed to re-locate.
No 23 & 24. No errors but took it carefully.
Lots of difficulty reading contours in the NW corner of the map, possibly due to part obscure from undergrowth lines.
NSW State League 12 - Sprint Race 1 - Boorgul Campus
Hard 1 - M35
Have just realised when drawing on routegadget that I ran through a narrow area marked as forbidden on the map between 2 and 3 (very clear concrete paved path next to the building on the ground). Email sent tonight (sunday) to Self Disqualify.
Missed the roadside route from 8-9 (couldn't be sure which gates were marked as open).
Slight wobble on 21 (momentarily thought I was on building gap further south)
NSW State League 12 Sprint Race 2 - The Old Steam Tram (Glendale High & TAFE)
Great campus race. Intense physical and mental exertion from start to finish.
Slight wobble into 3 and out of 4.
No. 9: Took the longer but simpler route which paid off as the split is up there with the M21s (bar Moose Morris)
No. 14 Hesitation re which side of the building to go. Split seems slower than expected.
Ordered a Garmin Forerunner as an early birthday present to myself.
It's only been on the wish list for exactly 10 years: since that summer I finished Uni, moved to bonnie Scotland, and fell in love with Orienteering again. Better late than never!

to city gym
Strength / Core (Pilates Reformer) 45:00 shoes: Bare Feet
Stand-in instructor. Improved a lot since the first class I did with her.
Included more variety, decent pace, and a few tougher exercises (eg Bear)
Felt like a reasonable challenge on just over half of the exercises.
