Skiing warm up/down 8:00 [3] 1.5 km (5:20 / km)
shoes: Fischer RCS+Salomon+SNS Pilot

Weekend in Switzerland (Obergoms), Swiss orienteerers training camp.

Looks like 1 meter of snow is not enough here - fell couple more cm over night. :)
But all tracks are firmly pressed from early morning.
Still snowing and cold.

Skiing (Snow games) 1:00:00 [3]
shoes: Fischer RCS+Salomon+SNS Pilot

Tried with Swiss couple new games for me: some version of rugby on skis, strange relays, etc. Interesting.

Skiing intervals 13:00 [4] 3.0 km (4:20 / km)
shoes: Fischer RCS+Salomon+SNS Pilot

Group splitted into 2 parts: stronger skiers (mainly Swiss national team members) went to narrow tracks training session, I've chosen weaker group - doesn't matter what this group will do. :)
Found out that at first that was something like interval sessions - the last skier in a row has to overtake quickly everybody else, slowdown and wait until he is overtaken by everyone, then again start his jump to the front.
After couple intervals from back to the front even "slow" pace in the middle of the row was quite near my limits.

Skiing hills 20:00 [4]

Other part of training was skiing uphill in narrow, not firmly pressed track - quite common situation in Ski-O.
Couple sprints uphill with poles sinking deeply into the snow killed me off completely.

Skiing 15:00 [3] 3.0 km (5:00 / km)

Slowly coming back to the camp - morning training session is over.

Note

Dinner and some rest. Already feel exhausted. Ski-O race in the afternoon still waiting.

Skiing 27:00 [3] 5.5 km (4:55 / km)
shoes: Fischer RCS+Salomon+SNS Pilot

Skiing to the start of sprint race. First part - very strong downwind. Nice. Then same strong headwind. After every km more and more thinking about changing class from elite to HA or even HB. :)

Ski-O race 36:40 [5] *** 3.6 km (10:11 / km) +85m 9:07 / km
16c shoes: Fischer RCS+Salomon+SNS Pilot

Sprint, Münster. Started in elite class - no power left, but more pleasure. :)
Expected to fall sooner or later, but not SO early - fell on the first downhill from the start, just after ~25 sek of racing. :) Some small mistakes in first couple controls. First uphill in narrow track proved that I'm completely tired - couldn't push at all. Took my skiis off. Unfortunately, technique used by me in such situations in LT was not working - after every step my legs sinked deeply into the snow.
One downhill was really interesting - too steep (50% or so) to risk my bones and equipment so again just took my skiis off. But Danius in the same place showed everybody how to do it - he took this hill on his butt. Swiss O-paparazzi filmed everything and showed in the camp later in the evening. Everybody was excited. Danius became a camp star. :)

Skiing 32:00 [4] 5.0 km (6:24 / km)
shoes: Fischer RCS+Salomon+SNS Pilot

Skiing back to the camp. Extremely strong headwind - just like going steep uphill all the time. Wanted to stop and rest but it was too cold to do that so just moved somehow forwards. How happy I was when finally reached our camp in Obergesteln...

Terrific day training and racing session.

Skiing 1:15:00 [4] 12.0 km (6:15 / km)
shoes: Fischer RCS+Salomon+SNS Pilot

Weekend in Switzerland (Obergoms), Swiss orienteerers training camp.

Arrived little too late and missed long distance O-race. Went for skiing without maps with Danius instead.
Wow, what great skiing conditions Swiss have... Never ever I've skated in such wonderful tracks before. In such place training would be pure pleasure, not hard work.

Skis were flying but couple hills killed me off fairly quickly. Had to stop couple times just to catch my breathing back. Winter without snow in LT and maybe altitude (1500m above see level) was making the effect.
