Orienteering race (White Rose Day 2) 1:11:11 [5] 8.9 km (8:00 / km)
ahr:159 max:176 shoes: VJ Integrators

What a difference a day makes - and a late start!
Absolute last out into the forrest today. A nice jog / walk to the start and ready to go. messed up the first a little and another towards the end, other than that no misses what so ever. A couple of route choices I could have done better. Again realised fitness is well lacking. Somehow came 4th. Having looked at the results I noticed I never got near a 2nd fastest split ( not counting fastest because someone good actually turned up!), and was usually about 5th early in the course and 11th towards the end. I draw 2 conclusions. 1. I start too quickly and die at the end. 2. everyone else made massive mistakes somewhere along the way.
Looking forward to my next event now - when is the british nights?

Orienteering race (White Rose Day 1) 1:25:51 [5] 8.3 km (10:21 / km)
shoes: VJ Integrators

Ooof. First proper O'ing since British Night Champs in Jan I think - what a re-introduction. 2nd out into the forrest, on the black course, in North Yorkshire terrain, having driven 2 hours to get there, arriving late (for a change), and having to run over 2km to the start.
Being first out meant having to make tracks for others to follow - lets just hope they didn't! Navigation was ok in places but very hesitant and downright awful in other places. Main problems were 5 and 6 where I couldn't make any sense of the map / terrain, I therefore went straight to 7 instead, then decided to do 5 and 6 ;)
Overall fairly pleased with getting around, but really need to get fitter and a few more O events will remind me what to do about navigating.
For some strange reason I love this type of terrain - I haven't quite worked out which screw is loose to think like this though.

ahr:133 max:160 shoes: Specialized

IW - feeling rubbish and still with a cold ( i realised as the day went on). legs were like lead and struggled to get off the drive and that's down hill.

Cycling (Road) 42:17 [3] 18.93 km (2:14 / km) +214m 2:07 / km

hfw - went the long way around weston on the way back this time due to cars piling past me and not being able to make the turn off, which conveniently meant I got a rest at the traffic lights!

Running 54:00 [3]
shoes: New Balance

Run from Marquis drive, down the valley past the lakes towards the visitors centre, then across the stepping stones and up the mtb track (flat out) looped back and realised everyone (except Mike B) had gone a different way, which was not necessarily a bad thing. Kept a good pace for the rest of the run (Mike dropping off at about half an hour).

Cycling (Road) 33:45 [3] 9.3 mi (3:38 / mi)
shoes: Specialized

iw - legs never really woke up (just like the rest of me) felt tired the whole way. Day of jobs in the garden yesterday must have taken it out of me!

Cycling (Road) 37:59 [4] 11.7 mi (3:15 / mi) +95m 3:10 / mi
shoes: Specialized

hfw via Weston. Tried to keep a good pace the whole way, thought I'd pushed too hard to start with as struggled up to the county show ground, then went ok after that.

Cycling (Road) 41:32 [3] 11.7 mi (3:33 / mi) +95m 3:28 / mi
shoes: Specialized

hfw - legs feeling tired today so took it easier, but still managed to do similar time to when I pushed it. Also had to pull over to make a phone call. I think there was less of a head wind today. Walking up stairs is harder work this evening than this morning!

Cycling (Road) 34:09 [3] 9.3 mi (3:40 / mi)
shoes: Specialized

iw - actually remembered to start and stop my watch this morning.

Cycling (MTB + O) 1:10:00 [1]

Gentle ride with Claire & Olivia, along the canal and through shugborough to Milford, a nice pint at the Barley Mow and back along the canal - what nice warm evenings were made for!

Orienteering 1:11:05 [3]
shoes: VJ Integrators

Most of the Brown course from Kerina's Rawnsley event. Missed out the first two controls as the route from 2-3 would have taken me pretty much straight past the car park. It took me all the way to the first control to get my legs working, they felt really heavy after cycling yesterday. Most of the course avoided the bracken, but when you did meet an area of the stuff it was almost impossible to run in. Good preparation for the White Rose...!
Relatively pleased with being able to keep running most of the time.

hfw - via Weston. Managed to get the 30 sign to flash on the way in, which means I must have been doing at least 25 if they are anything to go by:)
Pushed pretty hard. Starting to feel less sluggish on the way home now.

Cycling (MTB) 1:30:00 [1]
shoes: Specialized

Nice and gentle ride along the tow path from little haywood to Milford with Olivia on the back, quick pint and chips at the Barley Mow (milk in a bottle for Livla), then a stop of at the Stodgells ;-) to say hello and back the way we came (without the pub).
