Mendon Ponds - Pine Woods trail

Cycling long (HCT - Lowlander) 6:15:00 [4] 160.0 km (2:21 / km) +1861m 2:13 / km
weight:203lbs shoes: Trek 2300

Opted for the Lowlander rather than the Highlander b/c I don't have the minimum gear ratio for the Highlander. The name is deceptive - there's still plenty o'climbing in this one, but it avoids the really steep ascents (Bopple, Gannett, etc.)

Got a second wind at around the 80th mile or so, and felt pretty good for the remainder of the course. The rain held off nicely. Actual route is posted below:

Put the Paramount on the new rollers. Having never used rollers before, it was very difficult to get used to the balancing act for the first 10 minutes or so, then slowly got the hang of it. These are, I am told, the old school Weyless rollers, not the wussy new parabolic rollers, but still only lost the front wheel twice. The fixed gear made it easy to stop the wheel quickly.

Avoided the dreaded "carpet sprint"
