Family ski at Vesijärvi lake. Sun was shining. No wind. Temperature - 7 centigrade. Lovely condition for skiing on the lake and to have hot chocolate and cookies at Enonsaari. We skied back to Messilä and then I continued skiing on my own.
Soon after I had climbed from Vesijärvi lake and crossed Vesijärventie I saw two skiers having
Lahti Ski games vests on. One "Finish/Start" text and another with "Course 1" text on his vest. They were service team members, not athletes. I was thinking they could be from Italy or France and they seemed ask me something and they did. I was preparing myself for question in English, but was totally surprised:
"Anteeksi puhutko Suomea?"
"Ky, Kyllä" I finally answered.
They were asking direction to Tapanila. I helped them and skied with them back to Tapanila. There were from Italy. Guy speaking Finish language was selling Rex ski waxes in Italy. He was actually speaking Finish very well. I didn't ask how he learned Finish. Not a big surprise that they had better glide, but this Finish speaking guy had tremendous glide. He had also skis that I had never seen before. I had to ask what there were. They were
Skitrab skis. They didn't look "professional" skis, but glide was excellent. He was saying that his skis are good, engine moving these skis is not that good :). At Tapanila I said goodbye to them and skied home.
