Company champs at LS event. I tried to harder and I was also able to do that. Most of the time little bit late with O, but only one mistake at control number four. Control points 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 are great ones. A bit surprised that I lost a minute to Wilho at 11. Overall a good run and I won company title with a margin of 15 min.

Plus one hour Fußball mit Floorball juniors and O seniors. As a starter just before the training I ate a steak at Manhattan Steak House. For being a medium it was fairly rare, but extremely tasty one. Also had donut and coffee at Arnolds. A could feel them turning in my stomach during football session.

Training by Hollolan Urheilijat.It has been a long time from previous run with VJ orienteering shoes. These Supras are not for me, at least not in wet conditions like today. No real or not many mistakes, but orienteering was not fluent and running was slow motion, if even that. Map needs update. Forestry has spoiled some good parts.

I drove to Jämsä for evening event organised by JRV. Music selection for this trip was Rammstein (Mutter - Reise, Reise - Sensucht albums :). Main things first. Motivation was also that next year's Jukola will be organised in Jämsä. A bit tired from marathon, but quite ok run. Some really nice parts in the forest as you can from photos linked to cooling down training.

Orienteering with map from year 1946. Also old punching system was used. Our club is established 75 years ago and this was for good old times. Had some troubles at three and four. On four I found the spot at the first time, but did not see the flag :). It helped a lot that I was familiar with the area.

Mikkeli Maraton. Results. I won a maraton race and now I can die happy :-).

Extempore and kind of king idea was to participate to this race. I registered for this marathon just couple of days before the event. Goal setting to do my pb - sub 3:30. Travelling trough the Finland, eating not regularly and not drinking enough was not the ideal preparation. On top it was very hot day. I was suffering already at the starting line. Hot temperature is not for me, when it comes to racing. I was not anymore expecting anything except cramps.

Still race started well. Route was four laps around city of Mikkeli. I had just china watch with me which could just show hours and mins and I had no trust in it. I thought it was running with lower tempo. 45 sec in a minute or so. So I had no clue about the exact time on first lap. On 5 km mark I asked from senior runner about time and replied that the numbers in his watch are too small and cannot say for sure. Maybe 24 min. No further questions. I had also cell phone and tracking on it, but I decided not pick it up from the pocket. So first time I really knew my time at the end of the first lap. First 10,55 km stats were following
10,55 - 0:50:54 - 0:04:49
I ran with comfortable pace without pushing. I was a bit nervous about time. Is it too fast and decided to run the second lap a bit slower.

Second lap was a good one with the following stats.
21,1 - 1:44:07 - 0:04:56 - 0:53:13 - 0:05:03

Plan for the third one was just survive and save energy for the last one. It was quite ok, except at 29 km mark came the first negative sign. I had a cramp on left leg. I decided the take a bit slower for a while. Stats for the third.
31,6 - 2:40:35- 0:05:05 - 0:56:28 - 0:05:21

PB was not possible, but still having an hour to make it under 3:40. I was quite pleased to start the last lap. Plan was to fight and run harder the very last kms. Marathon start after 30 km and mine came to end. At about 32-33 km I had cramps all over the legs and I had to mainly walk till the end. Mentally I was feeling fresh, but cramps did not go away and I was not able to run anymore. I decided that I will not give up.

Happy face that I did it and day after feeling is surprisingly fresh. Legs are not hurting too much. Actually not at all.
