Company league race in Hälvälä. (LS-37 weekly training). 4.9 km. Off mode on orienteering. Thinking allkind of other things. Short jogging session after orienteering.

Rest day for sure. Although feeling is ok and legs are not so tired as I thought they would be. Forgot to tell that had Makkara during the race yesterday. On the fire place close to a lake a family was grilling Makkara and they yelled me that do you want Makkara. Of course I will. Running two hours and knowing it will last maybe an hour still, it was very much needed snack.

Orienteering race 2:47:10 [5] **** 20.4 km (8:12 / km)

Extra long championship for Lahti region. Map Vierumäki. 20.4 km course with one map change. Scale 1:15000. Biggest problem was to get to starting line on time. I started late at home and I had no fuel in car and two stations did not accept my credit card. After several attempts I finally got gasoline and got to start, not speeding too much. My plan in race was to make running as easy as possible. I choosed all longer road choises avoiding forest running. I tried to keep heartrate close to 170. I thought I could still finish the race with that rate. Let's say third rule was not to make mistakes. And I succeeded quite well. Did only one 30 sec mistake. To some control points I went very slow. I'm bit surprised that I could run quite well the whole race. I'm happy. Not only because good race, but I also won the competition. Distance from GPS 24.66 km. Respect at home. Wife asked. How did it go? I won. Were you the only runner? That is not so far away from thruth, because there were only three runners in M21 class. After this I look quite comfortable for coming marathon.

Orienteering race 42:30 [4] ***** 4.7 km (9:03 / km)

I am the champion... I am the champion of the world.
Championship in orienteering for employees/companies in Lahti region (or something like that). Tiirismaa, 4.7 km. In a way difficult course. It was easy to get close cp, but last 100-300 m were difficult as it in Tiirismaa just can be. The other runner, yes there were two runners in M21, catch me after second control point. I had prepared myself for this and did best to let him not take any advantage of me. Close to third I let him make first move and then I took the control and dissappeared from the neighborhood as soon as possible. Then I was waiting when he next time catch me, but good for me, I did not see him anymore. Results.

Testing shoes I bought from Jukola. Ice bugs for winter running, but noway I could wait until winter. Ran on small paths. Not great, but ok shoes. Can be used in park or sprint O on dry course. Route and shoes

Orienteering race (Jukolan viesti) 57:00 [4] 7.8 km (7:18 / km)
shoes: VJ LOP

jukola relay Tampere. Rastivarsat team 1, 4:th leg. Day light, when started. Got map from organisers, while we had to give up on låmga natt. Second time in a row. Don't know my exact time. Must have less than an hour. I took average pace from split times and multiplied 7.8. Quite good quess I think.

My Splits , Our team and short description about my race.

slow start to K. (warming up)

K-1 (107) excitement on. This is it what I'm beeing waiting for. Too much right. Some extra distance, because of that. Still getting used to map.

1-2 (129) simple one. Just keeping up the correct direction. Swamp as a stopper.

2-3 (173) check direction and head up and almost saw cp.

3-4 (91) decided to take left easy path route. Good choice to me. Easy to take the control from this direction.

4-5 (123) Swamp in the middle was stopper

5-6 (125) again easy left path route. Good one again.

6-7 (101) climbing to hill on right side. Following forest line to cp.

7-8 (134) path in swamp. Left side of hill next to cliffs. To get the cp was easy.

8-9-10-11 (75, 71, 119) short ones. Playing safe and result was almost excellent

11-12 (114) did not make any plan. Going straight through bushes. Too much right, but when noticed I made correction and rest ok.

12-13 (145) road as a stopper. Compass and speed. cp hill could be seen from long distance. No problem to take cp.

13-14 (78) took cliffs under power line from right. Going too much right. Fixed direction and saw cp on downhill.

14-15 (121) seeing how Lynx is going on 6th leg. Not bad. I could follow.

15-16 (92) following two times lnes of restricted areas. A bit unsure of beeing before cp. Directly to cp.

16-17 (100) smile to face. Good race.

17- finish. Someone was cheering and made to try harder.

Took a nap. Started somewhere between 3 - 4 pm on Sunday and woke up Monday morning at 6.30 am.

Warm up/down for orienteering. Checked two control points aferwards where I did mistake and also on the second try I did not find them straight. I accuse the map :)

Company league race in Likolampi. Butterfly course. Feeling for running is ok and that is good thinking Jukola. Last km I ran "full speed". O needs a bit more concentration. Two mistakes. Map was not the best one on those areas, but enough info was available to find CPs straight.

Got mail from defence forces and surprise, surprise there was invitation to military refresher course. Course will be at end of September and beginnig of October. Great, but I'll do my best to serve my country :). to the club, in the evening. Voimis: Have you something to do with this?

Weekly training by Hollolan Urheilijat at Hälvälä. Difficult course. 8 km. Ran slow and concentrated on orienteering. Still manage to make couple of mistakes. Time incudes short warm up/down.

Back, butt and arms hurts a bit. I did some gardening and dig out stump of a tree from our backyard. Nothing is so important than gardening and even that is not so important or how the chinese saying goes.

I love our Sport Channel. Between Euro 2008 champ games I was watching orientering. Third Top league race. This time in Orivesi. Pipo rules. Now Portugal - Turkey...

District champ in middle(?) distance. Could not concentrate on orienteering until it was too late. Just had to go on. Did not read enough the map and did not follow compass. So back to basics next time. Boomed first, fourth (big time) and fifth control point. Tomppa picked me up on fifth. Followed him to next cp and then started to work again. Qualification for Finnish Championship in Sprint. Started well. Then gained speed when came out of the forest to streets, but did not get use to scale and missed a crossing and made 1 min mistake. More difficult course than I was expecting. Then I made big mistake when went back to forest. I lost 3.58 (to best one) on a short distance while I ran too far and had to come back the control that I already saw, but did not notice to be mine :). Second last on Qualification group.
