Good way to start Rava's training challenge is to have a rest day ;). On the way to work I saw Ale doing Nordic walking with a solid tempo. He seems to have good start for the training week. My weight has stayed on plus 70 level. I was hoping to get back to sixties weeks ago. Maybe scale tells me that on next week then.

In the morning I did my duty for our O club on Finlandia Skiing Marathon's service station at Hälvälä and then I made a hill training in Kumpula - Hedelmätarha - Salpakangas area. Great feeling at the moment. Running is easy and body wants more training. This has not happened often lately. Lately means in about fifteen years.

Running on forest trails including a short distance on snow shoe trail. On every third step snow surface did not carry my weigth. That part was hard, but otherwise easy and nice cruising.

Running. Sunny, but cold weather. Two times on skates this week has left it's mark to my legs and running felt somewhat difficult.
[edit] Route. This is my favorite winter running route. Kind of boring to run straight road back and forth, but surface is usually good for winter running. Peaceful route, because there is no traffic. Also you're running on country side. Both sometimes needed, when you live in such a hectic town like Hollola ;-).

Day 6

So much to do and so little time (variation from Ronnie James Dio comment on Sauna Open Air festival couple of years back: "So little time and so much to play". Or at least that is how I remember it :) RIP. Soon a year).

So just could not do a longer run today. We worked a bit longer today (like usually) and had agreed a dinner with team I'm working with. I changed clothes and headed to the road immediately after getting back to hotel. I was running together with a finnish collague and towards to end pace get bit higher, when we started to little bit compete.

Nice run, but thinking my goal it was just too short.

Day number 5.

Good training. Combined early morning run and orieteering. First I navigated to venue with the help of Sports Tracker mobile software. Then I ran a course on the Leechwald map. It is originally MBO course, but good training by foot too. I started and ended from/to control 6. Some trails were difficult to see in the forest. I'll add a hand drawn version of the route, if and when I get it uploaded. I could find a way to download gpx file from Sports Tracker.



At the end of the training I climbed up to the schlossberg to take a look over the city.

Start for today's first trainig was delayed, because coming back from the ice hockey arena to hotel yesterday took a longer time than expected. We stopped for a while to bar shown here. They show music videos on screen instead of just playing music. Also people sing along with each song. And the best part of this all is that the music in mainly heavy metal. Some mandatory main stream like Foo Figthers to please wider audience, but otherwise great. Nice to see some german language bands too. I asked from DJ that could he play some finnish or Swedish band like COB, Sentenced, Amon Amarth. He replied that he don't have any. Soon after In Flames was on screen. Happy face.

The morning hours I used to do mandatory shoppings. Now I'm relaxed. I went to Sauna. This hotel has one. Different Sauna Cultur. You're not aloud to throw water by yourself. It's done by staff including a towel show. And ladies and gents at the same Sauna, but nothing to report on that ;).

Orienteering on the map I got injured last year. I had totally forgotten how much different it is to run in forest instead of trails. Good reminder that forest running needed before first comps to get familiar with it. Orienteering was not that difficult. Tempo was quite low. Some up and down going though. Extremely warm day today. +10 celsius and more. I visited the miss drawn symbol on the map.

Junk miles. Evening jog. One lap by the river Mur to get some kilometers. I usually forget to take heart rate band with when running. Today it was opposite. Band I had, but watch was at the hotel room.

Running together with a collague two laps by the river Mur. Nice weather for running. Nice feeling. So nothing to complain about. Also the heart rate is normal level for me.

It is Hockey night tonight. Let's see, if get into the arena. Game will be Graz 99ers against Medveščak Zagreb. Looking forward.

Day 2.

First 30 min I ran uphill. Not steep, but uphill anyway. The I turned around and I ran same way down. I should have taken the head lamp with. It was still daylight when I started to run, but as soon I got to the forest, it was dark already. It was not so nice to run down, when not seeing properly. I had to be very careful.

Hmmm. Quite high heart rate all the way. I did not run fast and did not push on the uphill. Well tomorrow I'll have a company when running and we'll have lower tempo, hopefully :). Maybe this is partly because of the project I'm here to. We'll replace a software by another on the area of mechanical engineering. Now we are defining how we will use the new system in the future. I'm representing two nordic countries in this project. Changing the tool is very sensitive topic and will bring up great emotions and discussions. The only thing what is clear is that whatever happens I'll be crucified at the end of this project ;). I will enjoy this until the bitter end.

I have an opportunity to be in the city of Graz until next wednesday. Big hand - everybody. Good news are that there are basically not at all snow on the ground. Some white spots there and there. Forecast is showing sunny and + celcius temperature. Today was cold. Colder than in Finland. For the next seven days starting today I have set following goals.

• 100 km by foot.
• 2 O trainings.
• At least 1 head lamp jog.
• See Graz 99ers hockey game
• Active logging
