Norwegian Champs Relay, Silver Medal.

Anders and Elias sent me out in second, about 10 seconds down on Halden with Olav. Then just a bit of a minute gap behind me I think. I caught glimpses of Olav on a couple of controls but never got anywhere close to him.

Began to tire just before the arena passage and my orienteering deteriorated. Luckily, just had enough of a safety margin to get into the finish before the chasing teams caught up.

Better mentally than yesterday, minus the last loop I guess.

Now with write up while waiting for the banquet to start.

Typical Ralph start, slow and unstable on the first 3. Then took a wide choice to 4 which was half bad, but then I executed badly dropping at least 30 seconds. Then started to get going.

Decent section and some very good controls. Caught up to Jon and named to just nip ahead before the arena passage.

Had a bit of a poor last loop, a stop on a control where the green before looked open, then a define mistake with some confusion in the green. Maybe 20 seconds max, but a vital 20 as I ended up just 4 seconds off 3rd place.

Still. Decent. And room and desire for more.

I also managed to fit into an XS GPS vest today. Exciting

Norwegian Champs middle qualification.
I am always pleasantly surprised at my own stupidity sometimes. Today's incident involved getting into -2 without an Emit brikke, the excuse being that seeing as we had been given emit tag, I assumed it was touch free punching. Little stress and luckily the start team had extra to give me but yes, further proof that I do need people to look after me at orienteering.

The race itself was good. I felt in control and the flags appeared as expected. 2nd place in the heat

Hitting 3.56 for the T which is maybe a fraction slow, it felt pretty comfortable (which is the idea), HR not getting up massively though, probably due to the relatively short reps and longish recovery, but also a possible sign of fitness (which would also be ideal).
