Lithuanian orienteering clubs' relay in Vilnius, Zemieji Paneriai. First took my club supporter role and was enjoying the fight betweek Dainava, Azuolas and Sakas, but after few hours I was told, that Andrius S. haven't arrived, so I was put to the 10th leg of the second team (even it already has been disqualified). I knew that this may happen and have had clothing taken. After short warm-up felt that self-feeling can't be better and legs are completely fresh after sprint.
Started when all the interested part should have been happening - before 11th leg, with Gytis from Karsuva club. He have had some orienteering problems from the beginning, so after first CP we knew that we are running the same course and started cooperating. After 6th left him alone, slowed down the pace, because my body already felt tired (when legs somehow were fresh still) and started felt being in cosmos. To the 8th CP made first mistake (30''), because of tiredness. In the 9th CP area already was walking. After 9th was caught by first team anchor man Edgaras and became acquainted with club victory, but still couldn't run to the hill and was walking. From 10th started to run again, and in spectator control (12th) was loudly cheered up by the crowd (very good feeling!) (but being in cosmos couldn't recognize anyone, just recognized J.U. voice). Running to the 14th CP met Gytis, who already was running to 17th CP (30'' mistake), after 14th CP met Mazulis, who already was running very easily, maybe because he already knew, that he can't close the gap to Edgaras. Another 45'' mistake to 16th CP - took a little bit wrong direction to the right. Later finished course easily, just showed finish sprint to the crowd.
Overall: made very good run, only three small mistakes of 1'45'' total, tough running, but much much easier than two years ago in middle champs in Skersabaliai (where was living dead and half of the course walked by the foot) - my running form seems to be in peak once again. Could save about 7 minutes if could keep Gytis' pace, but outrunned comrade Gyte by 4 minutes, which is very good result for me.
It was a perfect weekend and our club won the relay after 7 years brake! Amazing!
