Morton Games 5000 m - 13:57, 11th.
Windy all day but that has been the case a lot this year so I know I can run well in less than optimal conditions. It started tipping it down just after the start which added another extra element to contend with. Sat in at the start and felt quite good. Moved up with Pat Tiernan for a bit after he came crashing down but pulled the reigns back and told myself not to get too eager. I found myself on the wrong side of a gap at around 2 km and had to work hard over a couple of laps to move up to the next group, by which point they had been dropped as well. That was the pattern for the rest of the race: moving up through the remains of groups, sitting for a little and then trying to push on to catch the next group - sometimes I was on my own and sometimes with company. I didn't manage much of a finish over the last couple of laps, and was dropped by the fella in the grey vest that I had been sitting on for a couple of laps, but I also didn't fall off the pace - just ground it out.

2.47, 2.44, 2.50, 2.48, 2.48

I'm pleased to dip under 14 for the second time, that was the 'b' goal coming in and I'm pretty chuffed with that all things considered. I think its all well and good hoping for great conditions but it is satisfying to run fast in less than ideal conditions as well.

The plan is for a few days rest and then a couple of weeks building back to to full training before pushing on for the autumn and winter.
