hiking 1:58:16 [3] 5.17 mi (22:53 / mi) +149m 21:00 / mi

At home in the rain after another marathon session of epunch computer duty at Hickory Run.

My rain gear is good but not great. Wonder if I should invest in newer stuff.

Wore my rogaine shoes to see if they bothered my Achilles. They did not. Might see about getting a new pair a trail shoes that I can take to Nepal in case my Achilles becomes too much of an issue in my boots.

hiking 2:13:37 [3] 5.66 mi (23:36 / mi) +167m 21:37 / mi

At Hickory Run before a marathon session on epunch computer duty.

Achilles sore near the end but I felt pretty good. Not a particular strenuous hike and had a normal pack (just water and rain gear).

cardio 20:00 [3]

Elliptical before class.

strength & stretching 30:00 [3]

Class at SJU. Instructor had laid out a beautiful 8 station circuit and only 2 of us showed up. But we pushed hard and got a great workout since there was little rest and futzing around between sets. I actually held side planks for more than 10 seconds. Side planks for some reason are just really difficult for me.

hiking 1:14:43 [3] 3.13 mi (23:52 / mi) +109m 21:32 / mi

A very worrisome outing. Hill repeats with Sandy; the plan was for 4. Had 20 lb. pack. My legs felt fine but my breathing was awful. Felt light headed and had to sit down and rest after 2 to get my breathing back to normal and decided to call it a day. On the way back, any little uphill had me out of breath. I know I was a little dehydrated, but I don't know if that would be a factor. I have not been out of breath like that while hiking ever, only running. Tired, sure, but not breathing like that.

Will try again on Wednesday and drink tons between now and then.
