Note

And the ants are everywhere again. Grrr....

Need to find where they're getting in.

Hiked over to the post office on the other side of the Wissahickon to mail maps for the A event.

Didn't stop my watch while waiting in line but id about 10 minutes of core work when I got home so it's all good.

hiking 1:36:55 [3] 5.5 km (17:37 / km)

Can't find my splits printout so the time is from memory. I'll fix it when results are posted. (Only off by a few seconds.)

Had no intention of going but the Ahlswedes offered to drive me so I figured why not, at least I would be sure to get some exercise. Bad decision.

I knew the map was old and inaccurate and I knew the terrain was really overgrown with thorny stuff and I knew the weather forecast was for 40 and raining. So I have no one to blame but myself.

Navigated okay but got careless in a few spots. The one time (second to last control) I was really not sure if I was where I thought I was (I actually was) and stopped to really check things out I started shivering and could not get warm again. Managed to finish but wasn't sure I was going to make it back to the parking area (the finish was a ways away). I think I was a bit hypothermic at that point - had to really focus and tell myself to keep moving. Knee was pretty sore by then so couldn't run to get warm. Not a pleasant time.

Good HTFU training.

Thought maybe a stair workout would nudge me out of my bad mood. Did 5 minutes of double stairs, 5 minutes of single stairs until my knee started to act up. Nothing great, but at least I worked up a good sweat.

Indian loop with Sandy.

In a total funk at the moment. No motivation to do anything. Eating too much and gaining weight. Not getting any work done. Whining to myself about any and every thing. My back, shoulder and neck are really painful (although they are loosening up slowly). Wah, wah, wah. Woe is me.

An early tnt with Sandy and Ann. Jogged the meadow loop. I am working on the mental discipline to just keep going and not walking regardless of how slowly I have to plod along.

Had a massage this morning which made a huge difference in the tightness in my neck and shoulders. Now to get back into a routine of using the rollers on a regular basis.
