orienteering 1:37:47 [3]

Good, but physically tough, brown course. I had no interest in the really long around trail runs but I'm sure they would have saved lots of time as going straight was just really, really hard. Not navigationally hard, just hard to keep moving up and down the steep rock and through the blueberry and stuff. Navigated fine making only a few small errors (thought I was one cliff over on 2 but ran into my control instead of having to climb over one more spur as I expected, navigated cleanly to the reentrant I thought was in the center of the circle instead of to the one that actually was at 4, a little low at 5, left the trail too early at 8).

Good thing the drive home wasn't any longer - I was starting to get really sleepy there at the end!

Feel way more beat up than I did after the Billygoat.

Brown course. Really fun middle course at West Point. They gave us 1:7500 map which really helped. Unfortunately, I made lots of errors which is too bad as it was a great course. Butchered #2 badly - just was never really where I thought I was and it was a really simple control - don't know why I had so much trouble. Slow on several downhills for 3-10 but spiked every one. Then lost focus on 11 and missed it - still not sure if I was too high or too low - and took forever to relocate. I thought I was reading the contours well and saw the flatter area but somehow didn't see the feature. Then was really slow to 12 picking my way through the rocks - not sure how everyone was so much faster than me there as I didn't think I mucked it up at all. Oh well. And finally on the way to 13 went into the creek up to my waist probably finding the only deep spot in the whole thing and then got all turned around looking for the final control. Phooey. But a really fun course.

trail 38:28 [3]

A slow trek around the short trail loop with Sandy with lots of walking but enough jogging to remember what it feels like.

A very short work out doing some of the things from the trainer session. Abs still really sore.

strength & stretching 1:00:00 [3]

So, with Mary as a role model, I investigated personal trainers. I found one that seemed reasonable and he came to the house today and he put me through a series of exercises. It was a tough workout; I will be mega sore tomorrow.

So far this morning, I have had two cats, a groundhog, a skunk and a fox traipse across my back yard while I've been working at my computer. So far they all seem to be just using it as a thruway and have not taken up residence under my shed.

hiking 55:00 [3]

TNT - hike in the Wissahickon with Sandy while Bob ran the usual loop. We were both too sore and tired to want to run.

strength & stretching 1:15:00 [3]

Yoga class. Took it easy on a few things but overall didn't feel as bad as I expected. Had to back out of one or two stretches though as I could feel a cramp starting.
