Early morning run in the Wissahickon before heading out for a massage and a weekend at the shore with my sisters. What a difference a day (well a day and a half) makes! And perhaps the aborted attempt on Wednesday was needed to loosen things up. In any case, nothing hurt, it was just hard work.
Tried to go for a short run but it was a doomed effort. First clue was that my knee brace felt really, really tight. So although I feel pretty good, I guess my body hasn't readjusted yet from the rogaine. I was feeling pretty creaky as I started - knees, feet and hips all just not wanting to work together quite right - but I was hoping I would loosen up in a few minutes. But then my chest started feeling really tight and there was a little wheezing going on and so I just turned around and decided to mow the lawn instead. Guess I'll try again in a few days.
Note
Only one real sore spot left from the rogaine: there's a spot on the bottom of my right foot just where the big toe attaches to the ball of the foot that really hurts. Something in the joint is either bruised or otherwise damaged. It's happened before after an O race and it eventually goes away. I suppose I should try to figure out what the problem is so I could try to protect against it.
A quick measure of our route looks like about 65 km covered. Which means we averaged over 3km/hr. I'm guessing we only rested a total of 75-90 minutes broken up into lots of 10-15 minute breaks. Valerie should have more detailed info from her gps tracker.
More precise data: 36.5 miles, total of 1:50 for breaks (I forgot about the stream crossing where we took our shoes and socks off to get across and then sat for a bit).
Awards for the rogaine were fresh baked pies. Valerie had left by the time they did awards so I was told I could take two but I only took one, a very tasty peach pie. At the rate I'm going through it, I should have taken that second one!
