map hiking 1:00:00 [1]

Putting out the last of the streamers. Still fussing with the courses though and plan to move one streamer already.

orienteering 39:59 [3] 3.6 km (11:06 / km)

Ran the brown course at a steady effort. Although it avoids the big huge climbs of the other advanced courses, it still has plenty.

It is so cool to have an O map so close to home. I may have to print it at 1:10000 though - it wouldn't do to get too used to 1:5000.

Yoga/Pilates (class) 1:15:00 [1]

Aaaahhhh.....

map hiking (course setting) 2:00:00 [1]

Streamering. Decided to change some things so no one is tempted to head straight down the very, very, very steep slope. Also had to change some other things since they have decided to turn a ruin that I was going to use on Yellow and Orange into a place where they are dumping cut up logs, woods chips, ground up Christmas trees, etc. and you can't see the foundation of the ruin anymore. Out for about 3 hours, but did quite a bit of standing around deciding how to fix things. Lots of climb.

Yoga/Pilates (morning routine) 5:00 [1]

But I did it at night.

running 52:11 [3] 5.0 mi (10:26 / mi)

Five miles on the drive. Took it slow. :) The two halves with a bit of a hill on the way back were significantly slower: 520, 513, 507, 511, 503, 509, 526, 457, 533, 513.

hiking 26:45 [1] 1.5 mi (17:50 / mi)

The walk down to the drive and back up home.

map hiking 1:20:00 [1]

Put out pins (not sure what to call them - the thin plastic things that go in the ground that our new stands go on) for about 1/2 of the controls for the SCEE event on the 18th. I was planning to streamer and just put out stands where I needed them but everything is nasty enough that there were very few that I could hang from trees so I just decided to use stands for everything. Spent about 2 hours total but lots of time writing control descriptions and deciding exactly where to put things and so on.

I guess I'm fairly happy with the end result of the courses - there are lots of fun legs but unfortunately there are lots of not quite so nice ones since the terrain has wonderful little pockets of nice woods but then lots of not so nice stuff in between. And the courses have a ton of controls in order to get folks into the nice little pockets without thrashing around through awful stuff or just running trails. Definitely helps to have the event in the winter!

I ended up setting a sprint that uses mostly controls on other courses but as I was putting out the pins I realized that a really fun sprint could be set in an entirely different section of the park where there is a good trail network but not much else. Perhaps I'll volunteer to do another event some time.

hiking 1:00:00 [1]

A walk in the Wissahickon as dusk settled in. A very blustery evening.

Yoga/Pilates (morning routine) 6:00 [1]

Was interrupted by a phone call and so did two sets of 3 each instead of the usual one set of 5.

running 46:00 [3]

Two miles with Sandy on the drive at a very relaxed pace: 1044 out, 1035 back. Jogged most of the hill home.

Yoga/Pilates 8:00 [3]

A bit of the core dvd with Sandy since we felt like wusses after our run. Surprising how much harder it was after having run.

Yoga/Pilates (morning routine) 5:00 [1]

Butt muscles are really sore today - guess last night's yoga class was more strenuous than I realized! Not sure if it was the lunges or the one leg balances but something worked those muscles.
