orienteering race 1:14:51 [3] 5.63 km (13:18 / km)

DVOA local event on FCE; green course. Was feeling a little scatterbrained this morning so decided better to be wifty on a green course than a red. Had a pretty good run though despite feeling unfocused when I started. Minor bobbles only on a couple of controls - maybe could have saved a minute by being a little cleaner and another by not hesitating in a few spots. The rest was just lack of speed. Actually ran some in the woods and it doesn't feel like I've been able to do that for a while, so felt pretty good when I finished. Not a great per k time but it still felt good.

Posted lengths weren't correct. Red was listed as 7.3 but when I put it in OCAD for Route Gadget it came in at only 6.70. Green was listed as 5.5 but was really 5.63. Probably would have done Red if I had known.

Worked epunch all day.

map hiking 2:30:00 [1]

More course setting at Hickory Run. I really love that park - the woods are so varied and I'm always finding little pockets that are just so dissimilar to the surrounding woods - like a high swamp today that was really neat. Unfortunately the outing ended with a sprint back to my car in rain and thunder and the need to go back yet one more time.

trail 59:32 [3]

TNT - with Eric, Harvey and Steve (who ran on his own). Did a modified loop replacing the red trail with the orange but including the short section over on Ridley that starts with a good hill. Felt pretty good and tried to keep a good pace going at the start; paid towards the end but sucked it up and didn't totally fold. Almost wasn't going to go since Clem and Dasha aren't around but totally glad I got myself out of my office.

hiking 20:00 [1]

I'll count the uphill part of the walk home from the bank in Chestnut Hill - got a ride to the other side of the Wissahickon with Dennis but walked home. Did some of it in the woods as they're working on the trail I usually take with big machinery and you couldn't use it.

trail 1:09:30 [3]

TNT - ran with Sandy. Did some trails for 38 minutes, then threw in an 8:52 mile on the drive (!! 4:40 out, 4:12 back), then ran some more trails to the road and walked the road home. Sandy kept the pace up on the first trail section, when we realized we could go sub-9 on the drive for a mile we both pushed that, we took a short breather afterwards and then we were strong on the trails back up the hill to home. A very good workout.
