orienteering race 2:22:06 [3] 9.55 mi (14:53 / mi) +320m 13:29 / mi

DVOA long champs. A beautiful day and a fun course - lots of climb and lots of route choice. Had one error (missed the control and had to come back to it from the trail) and was sloppy on several others but was able to correct without losing too much time. Angelica had eye surgery this week and didn't run and Dasha had a few more errors than I did, so I ended up first woman on Red. Felt pretty good and had energy left at the end, but the course was pretty rocky so couldn't really have pushed too much harder.

Core workout? Strength training? Yardwork! Another 4 hours or so...

running 41:50 [3]

TNT - at the track.

From the parking lot to the track was painful - could barely shuffle along, knees bad but everything just not feeling good, with Eric W. walking just as fast as I could jog. Lots of talk about this workout or that and I figured I would just hobble around in the outside lane of the track as best I could while everyone else did their thing. But the good news is that after 4 laps at 3 mins a lap, I started to feel a little better, and did the next 4 taking about 4 seconds off per lap, then decided to stretch it out on the homestretch on each of the next 4 doing those laps another 4 seconds faster each time so that the last one was under 2:30 (still in the outside lane). And my knees and hips were feeling better and better; no pain and the stiffness was gone. Unfortunately on the 12th lap I got some weird twinges in a couple muscles and decided that I wasn't going to push it. Walked a couple more laps and did some stretching until everyone else was done. Time is just the jog over to the track plus the 3 miles.

Yoga/Pilates 45:00 [2]

Decent class; a much needed outlet after a very long day at school.

Note

After feeling very good on Monday, on Tuesday I was sore all over. I don't know if it was a delayed reaction to the Highlander or if the 5 hours of yard work on Monday was the culprit. Anyway, took it easy yesterday. Had to cancel TNT in order to drive Dennis back to college. Was bummed about skipping it, but had a great discussion on relativity during the trip.

"Not enough" should be allowed in the box for Sleep!

weight:113lbs (rest day)

Feeling suprisingly spry today...will have to rethink things. Giving my knees a rest in any case.
