Quick early morning jaunt. Wore the wrong shoes - needed studded icebugs this morning for sure as there was a sheen of ice all over the roads and trails. But wore my high top snow sneakers since I had rolled my ankle on Sunday and wasn't sure how sore it might get. Ankle was fine but almost fell on the ice several times.

TNT - solo version. The people coming kept dwindling until it was just me and Ann and we decided to each run on our own in the daylight. Decided on hill repeats and cranked 6 out with the last two going a bit further up the hill. Took my headlight and a jacket but stashed them at the top of the repeat hill. Much nicer to do these in the light! Got home just as it was getting too dark to see easily (got out the door at about 4:45).

I wonder why the climb is showing less than the last time I did the exact same work out.

Yoga. A somewhat low-energy class. Unusual for Bridget.

Have to be more disciplined about getting out for my hikes - I kept thinking I had time and then suddenly some things happened and I didn't. :(

And I think the weight is like DOMS, a delayed onset weight gain from Saturday's bad eating since Sunday was a good day eating wise. We'll see what tomorrow brings.

Woohoo - got in a quality 20 minute stair stepper workout. Good sweat and could feel it in my legs. Have to remember to do this - pretty painless in front of the tv.

Yesterday was a stressful day and I overate and ate crappy food. Happy the weight damage wasn't more.

The club gave me a very nice plaque as a thank you for NAOC at the meeting last night. I hope people didn't think I was ungracious - but I was a bit overwhelmed and just couldn't say anything. I should have taken the opportunity thank everyone who helped out and expressed how much I appreciated everyone's support.

Slept in this morning and showed up at the SCEE with about 15 minutes to go. So cool to go to an event a mile or two from my house.

A fun course by Vadim - mostly trails with a memory-o section stuck in near the end. Was not completely clean but cut corners reasonably effectively I think. The splits will tell. Didn't hang around to see results.

Temps were in the mid to high 20's I think and I finally dressed right for cold. Wore two pairs of tights and my legs were just right - warm without being constricted. Buff came off my head (and used as a nose wiper) about halfway through but gloves stayed on. I had a yoga top (to keep my belly warm), two long sleeve shirts and an oversize thermal shirt that comes down over my but to keep that warm. Unzipped the neck zippers but never felt overdressed. I ran some, walked a lot.

HR rogaine work. Met with the rangers to get approval - we did - and then did a short loop. It was 9F when I started but I was overdressed and had to keep stopping and adjusting layers. It was 19F when I finished. I went early to beat the snow and it's just starting to come down now that I'm safely home. Glad I decided to go earlier than usual despite the cold.

I did a bit better last time we did them but I think a lot of that was the cold. Only did 4 repeats tonight - again, just wanted to get done and get back inside. I also forgot to turn my watch off when we came inside but I'll do 5 minutes of stretching this evening so I'll call that a wash.

Karl made peanut soup and we celebrated his birthday.

Well, that was interesting. It's 57 degrees outside so I decided I really had to go run my loop regardless of whether it was terribly smart. I figured I'd just walk a lot if I had to. So off I went - and it was so nice and warm and sunny - but I couldn't run up all the way on even some of the small hills and I took frequent walk breaks whenever it seemed like I was just pushing a tad too hard and so I figured the time would totally suck. I must have been going way fast when I was running is all I can think of. Yay for warm weather!!

Probably should have stayed home. About half way through I realized I was starting to really fade. And mistakenly thought the Forerunner was charged so time is an estimate based on when I think I left and when I got home. Not feeling sick, but also not feeling real peppy either.

The good news is that it's light noticeably later than a few weeks ago.

TNT - Hill repeats with Sandy. These were hard - haven't done them in a long time and it showed. Had to talk myself into a certain number of paces that I could jog for before having to walk. Pretty depressing to look at the graph and see just how little climb it was (not even 30m) and realize I couldn't sustain a jogging pace up the whole thing. Will have to do these more regularly and see if that can't be improved.

Nice dinner afterwards with Ann, Bob and Karl. And a fabulous addition to the soup lineup.

Green course at QOC McKeldin event. Reasonable navigation although I goofed up #10 a bit. Not sure I took the best routes in several places although quite happy with several others. Did not go down to the road for #9, but did run around on the roads for #12. Feeling wasted this evening.

Very enjoyable drive down and back though!

And a little more running than I was able to do two weeks ago at Oregon Ridge so heading in the right direction at least.

So Peggy told me about her L&F attempt for the spring and I joined in. I was 132 on Jan. 1. This is more - a lot more - than I've been in a really long time. I gained about 10 lbs over the fall and most of it can be blamed on NAOC. In part I wasn't exercising enough and in part I deal with stress by eating. And even after NAOC I just couldn't put the brakes on. So I am determined to lose that weight plus an additional 5 lbs that had crept slowly back on during the spring and summer. Let's see how I do.

Looking at potential control sites for an event at Hickory Run with anniemac.

Super fun outing. Followed lots of animal tracks figuring they would know how to get through the green stuff. But, in fact, the mountain laurel was not nearly as bad as I feared and the vegetation mapping is still extremely accurate so pretty easy going all in all. Except for the snow. And the sometimes rocky ground. And the sometimes wet ground. But still super fun!
