running 40:00 [3]

Two 10 minute bouts of jogging and two 10 minutes worth of walking in the sand on Normandy Beach. Tough going in the sand.

Friday May 30, 2008 #

strength & stretching 40:00 [1]

Core workout.

Took a walk on the beach in the sand. Works the ankles and calves but not really training. But really pleasant.

trail 1:02:00 [3]

TNT - run with Dasha and Harvery while Clem and Eddie did red hill repeats. Walked the last bit; was pleased I got as far as I did (about 50 minutes).

strength & stretching 50:30 [3]

TNT - with Sandy. Walk down to the drive, a mile in just under 10, hike back up jogging the road part of the hill, and 15 minutes of a core workout.

Note

Lots of hours of running around hanging flags, vetting, existence checking, replacing stolen controls (well, programming them for other people to go replace), picking up controls, schlepping water, hanging streamers, etc., etc. Not sure what, if anything, counts as training! Had a great weekend; glad I volunteered to set the middle courses, but need lots of down time to recover. :)

Note

Really fun to look at people's routes in RouteGadget to see what they did on my courses! And very interesting to speculate about who was following someone on a different course and getting pulled off to a control that wasn't theirs.

strength & stretching 40:00 [1]

Core workout. Talked Dennis into joining me.

Tuesday May 20, 2008 #

running 54:00 [3]

TNT - 3 miles on the drive plus the down and up. Dennis, Kolya, Dasha and Clem did more but I knew I wouldn't be good for more than 3.

We didn't lose Kolya tonight!

map hiking 3:00:00 [1]

Seven hours at Hickory Run (there was wind, rain, hail (!) and then lots of sun); probably spent six hours or so on my feet, but hard to count it all as training. Put out the bottom pieces of the stands for all my controls.

They put the port-a-potties in the wrong place. Grrr...

running 35:00 [3]

TNT - run with Dasha and Harvey. Everyone is injured, so we cut this one short. Even so, I didn't manage to run up the final hill. Phooey on that.

Tuesday May 13, 2008 #

running 58:10 [3]

TNT - 3 miles on the drive with Sandy. Went towards Bells Mills for a change of scenery. Did about 10:15 pace with the last half mile a bit faster. Time includes some stretching and the walk down and back up. I suppose I should log those things separately, but can't be bothered.

Did a lot of yard work again today.

Made my plane reservations to Sweden today.

running 1:02:53 [3]

Had intended to run for 5 miles as slowly as needed, but my left knee (brace is on right) didn't feel so great so just did 3 in 30:15. The rest of the time is the walk down to the trail and back up the hill plus some stretching. Beautiful day.

strength & stretching 35:00 [3]

Most of a core workout.

Thursday May 8, 2008 #

trail 31:30 [3]

Normal quick trail loop; legs felt pretty good although breathing was hard (still having to use the inhaler). Knees felt really good! Actually went sort of fast down the downhills - and it was raining- my joints just felt stable which is very weird since that hasn't been the case in months and months.

Must be the purple nail polish. :)

Wednesday May 7, 2008 #

strength & stretching 20:00 [2]

An abbreviated core workout as I try to ease into an early morning exercise routine. Felt good once I got going, but I didn't leave enough time to do more.

Tuesday May 6, 2008 #

running 40:00 [3]

TNT - 2 miles on the drive with Sandy plus the walk down and up. I lost the splits, but I remember we were running about 5:15 a half for the first three and I was 4:34 for the last one.

map hiking 30:00 [1]

Some more time in the woods at HR - I'll count 30 minutes of actual effort - but the courses are now all finalized and there's even a model.

Thursday May 1, 2008 #

trail 50:37 [3]

TNT - ran my new loop with Eric.

Used my inhaler before starting; it helped.
