Hill repeats. And true to form, every up was faster than the associated down.

But, each one was almost a minute slower than the repeats last Wednesday. This is strange as we're comparing 4 minutes to 5 minutes so such a large variance is surprising. I know last Wednesday I only had time for a short workout so I was pushing the pace and today I was going at it a little more leisurely since I knew I wanted to do more repeats, but I still didn't think it would be that much slower.

Yay - figured out how to get the Garmin work again.

Stumble scouting. Some really nice woods up there and then some not so nice - rethinking course design.

Got tired pretty quickly; not sure why. It's a long drive up there so I would have liked to have put in a longer day, but I was just beat.

On the drive up, on US 209, just past the road up to PEEC, a tree fell on the road right in front of me. A car was in front of me and it fell in between. Pretty freaky. I saw it in plenty of time to stop but it was very weird to see it coming down and registering what I was seeing. It stopped traffic in both directions, but a dozen of us got out and moved the debris with one guy tying a rope to the main trunk and pivoting it to the side of the road with his truck. When I came by on my way home, all the stuff on the road way was long gone all that remained was the main trunk on the side of the road.

Another couple hours pulling weeds and spreading mulch followed by 10 minutes of serious ab workout (randomabs.com) plus some stretching.

I don't mind the yard work since I listen to audiobooks so I'm somewhat entertained while I do it and I like how my yard looks when I've tamed some sections of it, but I wonder sometimes at the futility of it all.

On a separate note, had a nice discussion with a woman who I guess I am now supervising at work. (Really don't like that responsibility but that's another story.) I told her a little bit about orienteering and she seemed really excited about taking her family to a local event.

Finished all the streamering at Hickory Run. Made a couple more adjustments to some courses, but have decided I am now done. May go up once more before the event to put the stakes in. By the end of July I will hopefully be in good enough condition to be able to get them all in one day.

I didn't stay out all that long today but I feel less tired this evening than I've felt after my previous outings to HR so I'm taking this as a sign of progress.

And now on to my next project in the service of getting into rogaine shape.

I have had a hard time motivating myself to do much this week. Did get out for a short hike and then did a bunch of mulching.

I got a new laptop from work and can not figure out how to get everything - the watch, the ANT stick, Attackpoint - to talk to each other. Haven't tried real hard, but annoyed that something that was working fine isn't anymore.

Numbering streamers at Hickory Run. The ferns have sprouted and the open areas are harder to get through as the scrubby stuff is thicker and taller. Rethinking white and yellow yet again. May also shorten the advanced courses. I thought I'd be done today but I need to go once more.

Another couple hours of weeding. And many more to go. Luckily I find it therapeutic and it's perfect for listening to audio books. Not really training but do manage to incorporate some stretching and core work by doing a lot of reaching instead of moving.

Assuming I get the HR courses squared away with one more visit, I was thinking I needed some other project to keep me on my feet and in the woods and thought maybe something at the Water Gap. Maybe set up a training or something.
