Ran a very short loop in the Wissahickon - still enough snow to make it extra tough. Walked one steep hill, but kept moving for the rest of it even when there wasn't much of a trail.

Post-run stretching. I either need to do this or some yoga regularly.

While not technically running the whole time I did run maybe a third. Took my snowshoes into the Wissahickon and today I probably could have gotten away without them Ah well. But running with them on was a solid workout which was the point after all.

Went for a "run" in the Wissahickon.

I figured between all the melting that happened last week and the fact that my sidewalk only had about 4-6 inches that I'd be safe trying to go run the trails in the Wissahickon. Wrong. First 100m of the trail in off the road was okay but after that it was in to my knees. Did a small loop in the meadow following some other people's tracks but it wasn't what I had had in mind. Should have just gotten my showshoes I guess.

But I was breathing hard and sweating which was the point so it's all good.

I've had a bad cold the last few days and it's been tough to get anything done both training wise and work related.

I did shovel an extra parking spot in front of my house the other day; I should log it but won't.

TNT - hike with Sandy, Jim and Bob on the snowy trails in the Wissahickon. There was a narrow trail of hard packed snow for most of what we did, but a small section down to the Drive was a little more rough. Finished with the big hill back up from the drive. Great night to be out. And great soup afterwards.

Hiked most of what I snowshoed the other day but cut out to the road instead of heading back through the meadow on the final part. Most of the route had a nice hard packed trail through the snow and was easy going but the first bit across the meadows and down the hill only had my old snow shoe tracks from Thursday and those were windblown enough that they were tough to follow in places. I figured it would be just as hard through the meadow on the way back so opted for the road.

Snowshoeing in the Wissahickon. I was breaking trail pretty much everywhere I went so this was really hard work. Majorly tired at the end and the long big hill which is now completely open was really tough to climb at the end. This was pretty much the "short hill loop" I used to run in 35 minutes. It's a little longer now since there are some detours around the logging activity.

I tried to do a little trail maintenance along the way - cleaning up debris and freeing trees that were bent over and stuck in the snow. Nearly lost it at one point as a branch I was tugging on had a piece under my feet that I hadn't noticed.

Snow shoveling. This snow is heavy! The six inches I just shoveled was just as bad if not worse than the almost two feet over the weekend.

Another round of shoveling trying to stay ahead of things since it's such a wet heavy snow. And it's only just now starting to come down hard. Yikes!

Another round with the shovel. It is still coming down. And the occasional thunder is not particularly comforting!! So far I haven't seen any lightning but it's being reported in the area.

That may be it for me; I'll deal with things in the morning. Probably take some ibuprofen.

Snowshoeing in the Wissahickon with Sandy and Karl. Actually jogged a bit, well that's an exaggeration - maybe 20 steps. :) Beautiful day and the Wiss was gorgeous.

Snow shoveling. Was smart and brushed all the snow off my car yesterday so the sun could get it all off today, but I still had to dig our the snow around it.

Note

Some ligaments or something at the very top of my leg in the back are not happy. The same spot has been a bit sore at yoga the last week or so and I guess either the shoveling or snowshoeing aggravated it.

Snowshoeing with Sandy. We just went for a short hike through what is now the logged out area in the Wissahickon behind the playground. With something close to two feet of snow it was tough going in places.

Since I worked up a sweat, it counts as training! :) Still have to dig out my car tomorrow.

A quick run on the drive before the snows come...
10:16 down, 5:41, 5:43, 5:41, 5:25, 14:00 back up.

Legs were dead. Not sure if it was yoga class last night or just general out-of-shapeness, but nowhere near the energy I had last time, so didn't even think about jogging up parts of the hill home.

Lots and lots of arm work. Good thing since my knees were in bad shape.

Icing now. Not sure why they were worse than usual, but things that don't normally bother them were tough tonight and the right one felt a little swollen so that I couldn't bend it as far as it's been going recently. :(
