Brown Clee

Was in quite a lot of pain jogging before this run. Broadly unable to run very fast at the start. Went stright to #3 wlaking most of the uphill. Hesitated going into three as the contours were not quite as I would've mapped it - you had to go up over the ledge. Stuffed up #8 as thought i was going straight, but actually off to left, and had to work out where I was (1 min). Also ran past number 10......
Going down to #13 saw Ed way down to my left. Started to run a bit easier now. Enjoyed 16 -> 20. Then track mostly track running to finish.

Quite early on in this race, I acknowledgedI 'd make it a recovery run, and try to nail the nav. It was a new area to me, Really glad I went as it exceeded my expectations, with lovely forest, and technical contour detail, with vague veg. Bit annoyed I was sloppy on #8, not too many technical controls, as one's like #6 were easily placed. Think it's probably the only race I've done where I felt more comfortable running at the end then the start!

Saw a sheep trying to get over the fence crossing 16 -> 17. Had it's hind legs on the crate, and the front legs on the wrapped wire. Moved off pretty quick when it saw me coming.

Cwmdu Fell race
Tried to start slower then I have done in this type of thing in the past. Was fine going up first climb, then started to slip places on the gentle slope along the top. Got a couple of places back on the final little climb to the first summit. Then the first downhill was also pretty gentle and runnable. A couple of technical bits where i got ahead.
The second climb was pretty deadining, and i was movely quite slowly by the top, having walked most of it. Then across the top got caught by a group.
Then there was a technical descent, nice soft heather to start with, i went off the front with another guy, and we put a lot of space between us and the others. Desperate for some water now, as it was quite hot. But all i had was a waterproof jacket and trousers which wasn't particuarly useful.

Was so knackered on the third climb, that i walked the gentle tarseal uphill. Was in a very dark place near the top of the third climb. Ended up a bit in no mans land after the cairn. I maintained my postion to the finish, with the group infront pulling away, and nonone really catching me.

I think this is the longest running race I've ever done. Overall good training, but i'm not sure I enjoy the suffering and getting beaten by vet women.... Would've been more pleased to finish a little higher up, but with large chunks of long flatish non-technical sections I guess it didn't suit me.
Could feel my right calf that i twinged bouldering last night, but otherwise fine.

Thanks for the bumbag Marcus.
