Orienteering 32:30 [4] 5.1 km (6:22 / km) +240m 5:10 / km
shoes: Jalas

JK relay - Hambledon
Ran 2nd leg in team with Tim & James - Bok 2.
Started with not much infront of me. had the left hand 1st control and went left up the path, was soon caught by SYO runner (Zach field). Tiring up hill, small miss on 4 where i was too far left (~10s) then had long gaffle at 5, and a few old men were on us. Pretty much stayed liked this too finish. No other real mistakes. Just finding it tough work, particuarly on the hills.
Pleased with the run, pretty clean, just slow - gained a couple of places.
Jim bought us back in a good 21st postion.

Most importantly the 1st team was the 1st bok team in 7th!
And the 2nd team beat the third team (and all the old men teams). Which is quite unusual in recent years.
Saunders claims he was on me at one point, but i never saw him...

JK long - Cold ash
Took this steady. Small miss at #4 were a dropped to another control lower - all very vague (1min). Was starting to realise that the course was going to be long as the forest was rough, and getting into it, when i completly hashed #8, going in early, then overshotting. I was far to blase and binned 3 mins. Then was going fine, enjoyed the holly bushes at 14, but then missed 15 (40s).
Then was coming home, I identify two routes to 29, but with little judgment chosse the right hand one. Followed the veg up and then there was a control that was on a rootstock close to a ditch junction that i punched - similar control but not mine. Then paniced and resorted to running round in circles. Had made a parralel error and in re-entrant too the north (3min). Small miss at 31 trying to work out where i was, put it down to O2 debt form hill climb, but there were suggestions from others the map was a bit wrong.
Started to die on slight inlcine to 35. So really enjoyed the wee 10 m climb too 36. Lost time on routechoice over the top to 37 as it was greener than showen early on.
So all up reasonble run. Not happy with soo many mistakes. Total around 8.5 mins which is more than i would normally make. Happy i lasted the distance. Not an area which overly inspires me, but fun nonetheless.

Orienteering 43:19 [4] 6.5 km (6:40 / km) +310m 5:23 / km

JK Middle Hambledon.
Started a little in a rush, but settled. Number one didn't feel right as it was very high. Was concerned i'd punched the wrong number, so not really into the map on the way too 2, wobbled a bit, checked the depression way before too the right and then though i might've overshoot, ~ 35 s. Then just a long hard hilly slog, one banana on #5 a couple of hestitations -16 were it was very low.
Was running with a couple of w18's at the end, god where has my fitness gone... at least there nav was quite ropy so I could keep up.
Fairly uninspiring middle area & race, though nice fast forest.

Event: JK 2013

Orienteering 17:00 [5]
shoes: Roclite 315

JK sprint Reading uni.
Went as well as it could given my current fitness level. Qute flat and realtivly easy with a lot of quite even route choices round sides of buildings. Took the non-optimum route maybe half the time. Still all up with route choice and a couple of hesitations only around 30s time loss. The rest was just running speed.
Pleased with that - although would've been slightly more satisying too be 1s quicker :-)
Winner 13.19

Call of the day: "Keith you sure you havn't missed your start mate" Mark2 to yours truely the number 21 seed, in the pre start!
