Orienteering 45:32 [3] 6.3 km (7:14 / km) +155m 6:26 / km
shoes: Walsh PB trail

Spanish league middle distance
Casa de campo

Got off to a shocker, missed number 1, even though it was pi** easy, and very near the start triangle. I then complelty screwed number 2, I think was in 1:15 mode from yesterday and just went sailing past it, on a parralel error. amateaur, and cost me three minutes. Then got it toether technically for the last 20.
Still feeling physcially slow.

Fun race though again quite easy and quick.

Winner 30.41

It seems like spain is an untapped potential, they ceartaintly don't lack any running speed. But the majority of compititors seem to have two speeds, on and off!
Notes on Orienteering in Spain:
1) The start clock neither shows the start time or the call up time, just a random time around that area.
2) They put bits of paper with the control number scattered on the ground at the control, I assume this was in case someone stole it, the assumption is they won't be assed to pickup 50 bits of confetti.
3) Map collection is a burecratic nightmare, after waiting 1.5 hours to get my maps back (i had an early start) , they proceeded to take 45 mins to hand them back. Requiring a representative from each club to be passed their map bags, and name recorded. Then after 45 mins, when they got to indivaul compitiors he proceeded to call out each course indivaully..... For christs sake in hundreds of events noone has ever stolen my map!!

Orienteering 1:47:05 [3] 15.2 km (7:03 / km) +290m 6:26 / km
shoes: Walsh PB trail

Spanish national league
Casa de campo - Madrid. Elite - long

have not been 100 % since thursday, but as i'd already entered, thought I do it.

Had the last start - must've been seeded, so my whole focus was to finish before course closure 2 hour!!

Fun race, I still havn't quite sussed out madrid weather. Cold at night but can get scorhing during the day... should've worn a white top. Was pretty worriered there might be no water, but thankfully there was some about 2/3 way round.
Nav alright, tended just to go straight. ssome slight misses, and then on 17 couldn't make anything fit, so just kept on running, as there was a big collecting feature, and found it. maybe 2 mins all up.

Physcially prety shite, no energy, due to in part I guess to not keeping onboard as much food as i should've recently. perkeed up after i got the drink in, but then died again near the end.

Fun times, not my kind of race though - fast & easy. Still a lot of local spainards looked really lost. Ran the whole thing by myself, apart from two legs where people followed me, don't think they were on my course though!

Winner time of 74 quite impressive. I thought it'd be 75+, but a quick google shows he got a silver at this years JWOC

I was pleased to make their international event a bit more international.
On balence I think I woul've perferred to do the OMM, but this was far more pleasent.

Run 50:00 [3]
shoes: Ascis Gel cumulus 11

Run up the river in the evening, as the night-o was cancelled :-( Glad i found that out before spending 2 hours on the metro.
Quite a few people out running, though not particuarly swiftly. On reflection I think the citzzens of madrid would beat the citzens of bremen in a running race. Felt quite strong.
