running intervals 55:37 intensity: (35:37 @2) + (10:00 @3) + (10:00 @5) 10.0 km (5:34 / km) +225m 5:00 / km

Slept like crap due to a very heavy thunder storm, which not only woke me up a dozen times, but also forced me to close all the windows in the apartment, making it too hot to sleep comfortably. It was one of those nights that take forever to go by.

Woke up groggy and grumpy. Pouring outside and no way I was going out into it. So did some chores around the house, and order maps for the WOC training week with Sam. Which is very complicated since someone new is arriving every day of the week and we are running a different combination of disciplines. Agg logistics.

Had to head out the door at 11am to make it to a wedding on time. Got stuck in traffic and was late, even with 30 minutes buffer time planned in. Ran up the big hill to the big church in Burgfdorf in heals and a flowing skirt. Kind of run really and was still huffing and puffy when I took my seat 10 minutes too late.

Anyway, when I got home from the wedding I wanted to get out and do something, so that is what I did.

Ran up the hill to the flat part of our woods and than did 10 x 1 minute hard with 1 min running rest in between. Felt good.

That's it for today:-)

Easy run with Sam around the neighborhood and woods. Lots of chatting about WOC. We are getting antsy.

running warm up/down 13:00 [2] 2.2 km (5:55 / km)

Warm up and cool down for O training.

Orienteering 1:05:00 [3] 5.0 km (13:00 / km) +275m 10:12 / km

Training on Tete Plumee running most of the course from the Swiss NOC selection races, since I didn't run them in April due to my knee injury. The woods are thick and hard to run through, and without controls I was doing a lot of double checking. But I actually really really enjoying myself and navigating well. I found a flow and actually found myself saying that this was *a lot* of fun:-)

Nice to have fun orienteering.

Note

Feel ok today, so I guess it was a good idea not to run on Tuesday.

(rest day)

Another rest day. Want to make sure to stay healthy and I felt really tired anyway.

Note
(rest day)

Spend the day hanging out at Day 3, took the gondola up to where the race was held and watched very tired runners come into the finish. The 2 hour hike up to the start was enough for a lot of people and they had to run a race after that. It took Sam 1h20 min of fast hiking and running to get up there, so just imagine how long most people had. I personally think it was too much for a lot of people and even though the terrain is great, I bet it took some of the fun of it out for some people.

Someone died of a heart attack today too. So sad. He was young too.

At least it stopped raining. I hope that the 2nd half of the SOW goes better for everyone.

running warm up/down 43:00 [1] 7.2 km (5:58 / km)

Warm-up and cool down for the Sprint in Schwyz.

Orienteering race 21:41 [5] * 2.6 km (8:20 / km) +110m 6:53 / km
ahr:183 max:193 spiked:16/21c shoes: Inov-8 Roclite 285

Sprint in Schwyz.

Blew it in the first 2 seconds of the race by missing the alleyway I was supposed to take (1'10" mistake), then missed an underpass on the map and took a detour to 3 (another 40" lost). Than I had a better phase, a few controls went smoothly. At 8 I read the wrong control code and though I was wrong, got confused and flustered and took a few steps away, looked at my control descriptions again and realized I looked at the wrong one, and went back. Next one I screwed up again (both mistakes about 10 seconds), then 12 I missed again and lost another 40 seconds. Man, so that means 2min 50sec of mistakes and that in a sprint! Yikes. Nothing to be proud of. After analyzing I saw that I was rushing too much and not reading the map precisely. I don't know why I feel like I need to be rushing so much. Time to get over that!
