North Third tour from Polmaise Quarry Road.
Cold and overcast but brightening up as I went. Had anticipated this taking me about an hour but a: I am fatter than I think I am, b: I have a poor memory. Result - a very enjoyable long run.

Out on Birnam Hill checking out the first sections of the BUCS courses. Cold (1 degree) but sunny. Bracken down and heather not as deep as I feared. Snow will help, if it ever comes. The forest is really beautiful and feels really Scandinavian/natural. I hope we can have a successful event, www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10157014258011085&...
Sore calf but too glorious a day to not get out (too cold/icy for a ride) so I nipped up Dumyat, quad track, from the shoulder. Climbing carefully but managed to run all the way (just!). Feeling the Christmas pub! Bumped into Dr Jim (neighbour) at the top - not bad for an Octagenarian!

Newton PS Running Club.
Jogging out the woods behind Menteith View. The kids ran one loop as warm up then raced a second loop. I then explained that they were to run it again and try to beat their time. What a rabble today - 31 kids non-stop scream and chatter - I lost my rag on a number of occasions - need to work on my attention control!
One last warm down loop before heading back.
As a session it worked well and most managed to up their ante and beat their previous time (about 4-6 minutes loop).
Sore left calf so took the opportunity to do a night (headlamp) mtb ride of to the Gathering Stone on the new tracks. All rideable and much fun, but still a lung buster on all the climbs. So much fun I went back round from Dykedale. Not surprised to see that the legs were empty second time round :-P
