Orienteering race 33:06 [4] 5.93 km (5:35 / km) +135m 5:01 / km

BOC Middle Champs Stock Hill.
Redemption time after yesterday's sprint performance. Off hard but steady but still couldn't get my head around a 7500 scale over-generalised map. Really struggled with so much missing from the map - felt like a 1980s style.
Anyway, I ran hard and tried to be clean - failed, but mistakes to a minimum until number 12 where I went into the forest too early and undershot. That threw away the chance of a gold but kept pushing in case I could get any other colour. On crossing the wall into the open I read my descriptions and badly placed my foot. The tendons cracked loudly and it was really obvious what had happened. Shouts of pain but the adrenaline kept me pushing/hobbling through the last few controls to try secure a decent result.
Pleased to see that I hadn't lost places on this section despite injury and happily into 2nd place! With only one M50 in front of us today (Bill Edwards - 31.) Chuffed. Sore. Andy S took the win - not clean but solid and travelling faster than me, as expected.

Orienteering race 15:31 [4] 3.2 km (4:51 / km) +50m 4:30 / km

BOC Sprints, Bath University. M45 Heat A.

Steady and away, just trying to secure qualification. All OK and into 2nd behind and Italian ?

Orienteering race 16:43 [4] 3.2 km (5:13 / km) +45m 4:53 / km

BOC Sprints M45 Final.
Started fine and worked out a decent route for going through the multi-levelled buildings to 2. All Ok then until returning back to multi-levels when it all went pear-shaped. I couldn't see what was on the map clearly and struggled for both routes in this area, throwing away at least 90 seconds. Normal SI doesn't work for these races either so GAME OVER.

Miles down, 6th on M45 but about 40th on the course! Toss!

Note
(rest day)

Signed off by the physio today. Nerve issues fixed. But I still have mega tight pyriformises and need to do more glute work. Hamstring insertion on left is niggly but minor, currently.
I should be Ok to run this weekend, but not compete.

Orienteering race 16:47 [4] 3.37 km (4:59 / km) +56m 4:36 / km

Stirling University Sprint - Short Course - Straight Line 2.15k Brave enough to have a go at attacking this - but had hoped to have got in a decent warm up. In the end I started steady round the forest section and tried to change up a gear around the loch. Body not having it, especially the lungs. Orienteering OK but not perfect. Calf compression socks giving me some confidence.
Pleased to have got round.

Orienteering 20:00 [1]

Better warm down, including SI hunting (fail) for Fi.
