Orienteering race 1:00:06 [4] 6.9 km (8:43 / km) +250m 7:22 / km

SOL at Auchingarrich planned by Rog. Great area in great shape and good course from Rog. Had worked the start from the beginning and started after 1pm with minimal warm up. But ran well and tried my best. Let myself down by some poor (overly-defensive) route choices on two long legs (lost me over 2 mins on Ben) to lose to Ben Stansfield by 1 min.
Loved the course, but it was getting a bit too muddy latterly!

Collecting controls on the green hill. Fun. Found an old FVO stealth? control....
Then helped the team unpack everything back into the store - eventually home at 17:50.
Long but good day.

Scottish Spring Middle race - Abbey Craig, planned by Ben Stansfield.
Excellent, intensive million-control race on beautiful terrain. Failed to get into the 1:5000 maps scale for three controls (overshot no 3 by 30 secs) but then got into the flow. Really struggling with lungs and legs and wheels nearly coming off on a few controls.
Didn't feel very fit today but I must flow better than others - took the win by a reasonable margin.

Newton Primary School running club.
Some core and then some muddy running in Kippendavie Woods. Some kids have a natural affinity for mud, forest and outdoors (ie Jamie Connor) others have a real feel of being dirty and getting prickled by gorse bushes - pathetic! It'll be interesting to see what the drop-off rate is next week - plenty of these kids "can't handle the truth!"
