Orienteering race 3:13 [5] 5.0 km (39 / km) +100m 35 / km
ahr:169 max:180

British Relay Champs, M40, Team FVO, 2nd leg.
Well up for this - familiar with the area, not too much climb and in another strong team. Dixie came back in about 5th I think but not too far down for me to write off the race. I pushed hard from the start and never backed off the pace. Noddy orienteering so more of a cross country race. Passed INT and SYO2 within the first control then on my own. Thought I saw Chappers in the distance at one point but nothing thereafter so assuming I was catching but still behind. Chuffed to hear I'd caught and passed to come in first! 2nd fastest leg time of the day just behind Birkenshaw.
Ben Stansfield had a job to hold off Charlie Adams but he did and even managed to outsprint him at the end for the gold. Good work team - well derserved.

Orienteering race 1:22:17 [5] 10.6 km (7:46 / km) +500m 6:17 / km
ahr:166 max:178

British Orienteering Champs, M40, Dalegarth.
So, not feeling 100% confident after a rotten 2 weeks but drugs were kicking in and I was prepared to give it a go.
Struggled to run hard and read a 1:15 for some of it, at other times I missed features under the circle line or just misinterpreted the map (not perfect). But I ran strong and worked hard all the way. Biggest mistake was coming into the wood - failed to check my direction sufficiently and missed the urgent right turn - faffed for a while trying to pick myself up and then went back to the entrance and sussed it out. Quite happy to come 4th given my recent bout of ill health.
Logue miles in front then Steve Watkins and Richard Barrett not too far off.

Orienteering 1:01:00 [3] 6.0 km (10:10 / km)
max:160

Hanging controls for the FVO WEE I was planning at Barr Wood.
16 degrees and pure sunshine and the area was in perfect shape. Shame I wasn't - a desperate shuffle to get round before people arrived.
Still, 47 other people enjoyed it.
Freezing when the sun went down!

Note
(sick)

Still not good. Sinuses really troubling me - all blocked up, not sleeping too well and coughing all night.
Took my kit in to work but no way I should be training yet...
