Orienteering race 33:25 [5] * 5.87 km (5:42 / km) +175m 4:57 / km
ahr:172 max:182

BOC Middle Distance Championships, Worth(less) Forest, Crawley.
I was determined to get a result today after yesterday's mis-punch.

Warmed up OK but was feeling my Sainsbury's breakfast and regretting my timing. Went off hard and was able to get into the map real quick (due to the fact that it was clear and easy). The toughest part of the race was exiting the controls in the right direction and trying not to overshoot the controls as the fast terrain meant you were there before you knew it!

Kept it clean enough until the penultimate when I took my eye off the compass and dreamt of the podium..... drifted left and had to drop back right and down the hill to get the control - 30 secs lost - never enough to be challenging the mighty Barratt.

Silver medal and Monro in 3rd (how??!!)

I didn't think I could run this fast - the half marathon training works on this runnable terrain!

Really please for Claire's win and Jamie's Silver.

Run warm up/down 30:00 [2]

Orienteering race 18:42 [5] 2.6 km (7:12 / km) +80m 6:14 / km
ahr:169 max:185

BOC Sprints at Sussex & Brighton Uni Campus.
Really scrappy start, not getting into my legend and not staying ahead en-route. Some really daft decisions and legs tired (should have done a recovery run yesterday!)

Qualified in 3rd, I was never gonna not qualify but I wasted some energy.

Orienteering race 17:26 [5] 2.53 km (6:53 / km) +80m 5:57 / km
ahr:172 max:187

BOC Sprints Final
In the mood and firing OK. A bit scrappy round the first section but opened up in the middle section (too much in hindsight) and held on through the longer route choicy legs. Was never gonna get Barratt but would have settled for Silver.
Turns out I didn't hold my dibber in long enough at both controls 11 and 12 - easy controls but I was clearly going too quick on the punching.

Had I taken my time I would have still got silver!

Thankfully my fellow FVO'er took it instead - well done Jon!

I have never had such a high average HR ! And a new Max!!!

Run warm up/down 45:00 [2]

Plenty of warming up and down today, in the sun!

Orienteering 1:25:00 [4]

Sauchie and Polmaise Brown course with Rog.

Parked by river and jogged to start, jogged back from finish and ran the course pretty hard apart from the run-through leg which we jogged.

Not sure if we'd have beaten Claire!

Forest great! Some good clean orienteering for me at times, tiring in Sauchie and getting more blazee.

Great night to be out and some fab terrain - need to do this more often....

Run 37:00 [3]

Usual lunchtime run, on my own.
Tired, but body OK.

Pilates 1:10:00 [3]

Too tired to run at lunch but managed to make it to pilates and run a reasonable session and get through circuits.

These weekends are tough on the old body!
