A choice between a TAY SOSOL or a snowy Munro on a beautiful sunny day. No choice!
Bagged Ben Vorlich for the second time, with J9. This time it was even snowier and icier than the last time - requiring crampons and ice axes at the last steep climb! The views at the top were amazing! We waved to home (we can see this mountain from our bedroom window!) and took some great photies. The return trek was a bit scary and at one point Janine panicked when she thought I'd slipped (I was actually purposefully on my bum sledging but I picked up so much speed that I wiped out!), in Janine's panic she slipped and fell, sliding down an icy mountain. Fortunately, quick thinking Janine managed to flip onto her front and get the ice axe in. just before coming to a stop at my feet! A scary moment that required a sit down!
After that things improved ;-) A good day on the fells.
FVO Terrain Time Trial, Polmaise.
Pretty up for this despite the icy conditions and I gave it my best. Despite the excellent taping (done by me Trevor and J9) I still managed a small miss on loop one - too busy watching Elle go AWOL!
Despite that i ran strongly - especially on the second loop to finish strong.
A marked increase on September's time, but hey, anything would be better than that one.
Run warm up/down 1:05:00 [2]
Putting out 1/3 of the tapes and controls, pre-running the loop and then collecting in a 1/4 of the loop afterwards. Knackered.
My ankle joints have seized up because of the icy/rutted paths!
A run at lunchtime. Into Achray to check out the start and the first gaffles for the last in the series of Wednesday Night O's.
Unfortunately, I won't be around for it - away with the GB team, but the courses will be planned and Janine has agreed to take over on the day.
Beautiful day to be out, breaking in some new Walshes, stomping through the terrain and some fab views of Ben Lomond and Loch Ard.

FVO Night O at Barr Wood.
An excellently gaffled course planned by Trevor.
Got off to a good start and was within site of the leaders going into the last longer loop. Unfortunately, I ran into a fenced area without noticing and came across an 8 foot high deer fence. Rather than reverse out 50 yards to get around it i chose to scale it. But, given my heavy nature at the moment the fence collapsed on me mid climb and I wrenched the back of my hamstring, knee and calf dangling upside down from the top wire.
Time to quite and walk back. Iced and IBU'd and with wine and Beef pie in me at the Pirnhall life was rapidly returning to normal. leg should be fine for a jog on Friday.
Will won by miles!
FVO 3k Time Trial at the Uni.
With a lingering cold I offered to pace a club athlete to ensure they were better consistent on their lap times. The track was quite slippy/icy and I'm sure everyone would have run better if it hadn't have ben -6.
Nevertheless there were some great runs, not all PBs due to the time of year and volume of recent training but very promising - Rosco only 4 seconds off.
Abi - 7 secs off her PB!!!
Warm down'jog round the Loch in the dark.
New FVO Conditioning, Season 3.
Lots more work on plyometrics and core engagement.
And Dixie and I have introduced a map workout too!
Found out I have won the Jim Heardman Trophy for Services to the Club.
There are so many worthy contributors to this excellent club that I feel uncomfortable accepting it. Let's just say that I wouldn't have won it if nobody had turned up on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.......
Thanks Guys.
