11 AM

Run 42:35 [3]

Dumyat. Achilles didn't like it but I did!
Fabulous cloud inversion, a few inches of snow underfoot.
Brill.
3 PM

Note

Newton PS Running Club.
My achilles wouldn't have liked a second session so I didn't take part in much. Core/strength session in the hall with Hazel then out the back of school for some short hill reps with run-off downhill section x 4.
Cold standing about! Brrrr.

Tuesday Jan 29, 2019 #

8 AM

Mountain Bike 40:00 [2]

Garage to work (Fiesta Service). 2 inches of snow in Dunblane - which I would have perferred to no snow and lots of black ice in Perth.
4 PM

Mountain Bike 40:00 [2]

Back to the car. Not so slippy.
Serviced Fiesta, tick!

Monday Jan 28, 2019 #

12 PM

Run 20:00 [2]

Easy jog out to see how bod is. Left calf/achilles still nippy but Ok to run on steady.
6 PM

Run 1:00:00 [1]

Pilates and circuits with the monkeys in tow.
Felling like it's January and I'm overweight ,got a long way to go and I can't be arsed.

Sunday Jan 27, 2019 #

Note
(rest day)

Was going to go out but am pretty sore and tired. Got over-excited watching the kids race Cyclo-cross at Linlithgow today - they were ace!

Saturday Jan 26, 2019 #

1 PM

Orienteering race 58:00 [4] 10.8 km (5:22 / km)

Edinburgh City Race.
Calf hurting from about 500m in so I ran defensively and tried to look after my gait. Enjoyed the interesting sections but too much dead running for me. Still, I really liked visiting Deans.

Friday Jan 25, 2019 #

Note
(rest day)

Feck it. It's my birthday.
And I'm in a feck it mood.

Thursday Jan 24, 2019 #

3 PM

Run 30:00 [2]

Newton PS Running Club.
Up to the woods near Ryland Lodge for intervals (3 x up and 3 x down) then relays in groups of 4. They just about got the hang of this then Elaine M realized it was nearly 4:15. Arrrgh - 1 x long interval back to school :-)

Wednesday Jan 23, 2019 #

6 PM

Orienteering 54:00 [3]

FVO Night O - Doune planned by Lewis.
Great use of forestry. Poor use of compass and map reading from me. AWOL on a number of occasions. not even reading the map on occasion. A real wake up call for next weekend.
Pub fare made it all worthwhile.

Tuesday Jan 22, 2019 #

8 AM

Mountain Bike 40:00 [2]

From Garage (Passat MOT) to work. Bloody freezin' !!!
12 PM

Pilates 50:00 [1]

5 PM

Mountain Bike 40:00 [2]

Work to garage (Passat passed MOT!). Black ice everywhere, scary.

Monday Jan 21, 2019 #

12 PM

Run 33:15 [3] 6.33 km (5:15 / km)

Out with youngster Mike who has lost 1 and 3/4 stone since Christmas.
Now he's floating along. Git. A bit faster than I was planning and left Achilles grumbling on the tarmac sections, but, job done.

Sunday Jan 20, 2019 #

9 AM

Run 1:30:09 [3] 13.2 km (6:50 / km)

North Third tour from Polmaise Quarry Road.
Cold and overcast but brightening up as I went. Had anticipated this taking me about an hour but a: I am fatter than I think I am, b: I have a poor memory. Result - a very enjoyable long run.

Saturday Jan 19, 2019 #

11 AM

Run 30:00 [2]

Supporting Plean ParkRun and then shadowing H on the yellow course.

Friday Jan 18, 2019 #

Run 1:07:46 [3] 5.89 km (11:30 / km) +371m 8:45 / km

Out on Birnam Hill checking out the first sections of the BUCS courses. Cold (1 degree) but sunny. Bracken down and heather not as deep as I feared. Snow will help, if it ever comes. The forest is really beautiful and feels really Scandinavian/natural. I hope we can have a successful event, www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10157014258011085&...

Thursday Jan 17, 2019 #

10 AM

Run 35:56 [3] 4.8 km (7:29 / km) +173m 6:21 / km

Sore calf but too glorious a day to not get out (too cold/icy for a ride) so I nipped up Dumyat, quad track, from the shoulder. Climbing carefully but managed to run all the way (just!). Feeling the Christmas pub! Bumped into Dr Jim (neighbour) at the top - not bad for an Octagenarian!
3 PM

Run 20:00 [1]

Newton PS Running Club.
Jogging out the woods behind Menteith View. The kids ran one loop as warm up then raced a second loop. I then explained that they were to run it again and try to beat their time. What a rabble today - 31 kids non-stop scream and chatter - I lost my rag on a number of occasions - need to work on my attention control!
One last warm down loop before heading back.
As a session it worked well and most managed to up their ante and beat their previous time (about 4-6 minutes loop).

Wednesday Jan 16, 2019 #

6 PM

Mountain Bike 1:00:00 [3]

Sore left calf so took the opportunity to do a night (headlamp) mtb ride of to the Gathering Stone on the new tracks. All rideable and much fun, but still a lung buster on all the climbs. So much fun I went back round from Dykedale. Not surprised to see that the legs were empty second time round :-P

Tuesday Jan 15, 2019 #

12 PM

Run 34:44 [3] 6.3 km (5:31 / km)

Down to the Tay. Body grumbling, especially my left calf/Achilles.
January is going to be an unhappy month :-(

Friday Jan 11, 2019 #

12 PM

Run 25:00 [3]

Dunblane Primary Schools XC race at Dunblane High this morning.
Wicked turnout for Newton - 76 kids from there and 135 in total from all three schools.

Wicked little course arranged by Hazel and Active Schools.

Our guys did great - Jamie Oldham in 2nd despite a foot niggle.
And May Cruft in 3rd - despite being a P5 youngster!!!

Great effort from all.
I arranged a warm up session and once home - Went for a jog after through Hydro etc and round Kellie Wynd looking for routes through the woods. Sore from sprinting, hanging around and cheering.

Thursday Jan 10, 2019 #

3 PM

Run 30:00 [2]

Newton PS Running Club.
Taking it easy as they have Dunblane Cluster XC tomorrow.
A bit of core ed then some lamp post intervals and warm down. I tried on the intervals and am paying for it now - not used to sprinting!

Wednesday Jan 9, 2019 #

6 PM

Orienteering 41:01 [3] 4.1 km (10:00 / km) +150m 8:27 / km

Abbey Craig Night race planned by Gary L. Great course with interesting gaffles that left me on my own after a few controls.Kept seeing Fraser every now and again but I was keep to not race (chesty cough) and just enjoy the terrain so walked a bit and tried to be clean. Great fun!

Tuesday Jan 8, 2019 #

12 PM

Run 41:58 [3] 7.7 km (5:27 / km)

North across the A9 and round Luncarty by the Tay. Chest issues stopping me from going any harder.

Sunday Jan 6, 2019 #

9 AM

Run 47:18 [3] 5.6 km (8:27 / km)

Up Arthur's Seat to make room for breakfast after a night out in Edinburgh (and the most gorgeous Thai restaurant) to celebrate Wifey's birthday. Damp, so all the steps were like an ice rink!

Saturday Jan 5, 2019 #

Squeezed in a loop of Laigh Hills before heading out for 26 hours of no kids fun!

Friday Jan 4, 2019 #

Thursday Jan 3, 2019 #

12 PM

Orienteering 57:00 [3] 7.0 km (8:09 / km)

ROMP training at Loch Vaa whilst family Mtb'd and geocached. Lovely tough terrain (it needs a heavy snow), certainly tough enough for Fatboy Lard. Still managed to sniff the controls out ok.

Wednesday Jan 2, 2019 #

11 AM

Mountain Walk 3:02:00 [1]

Family walk up and round Meall a Beuchille in the wintry sun. Good effort from the kids, good views. Chilly for me, I hadn't anticipated the minus temperatures and kids pace when gearing up.
