Jk relays men 120+ 3rd leg for second team. Pleased to get out in third and back in third despite fumbling the last few controls badly. A typically brilliant day all round for FVO. Well done again Mr Cross !

Orienteering race 1:03:32 [4] 7.7 km (8:15 / km) +335m 6:47 / km

JK day 2. Wass. In two minds whether to run but rather this than tomorrow's cross country race on Kilnsey! A few banned drugs and I was psyched to start. No power on the climbs and not as agile as normal so tried to stay clean and avoid grot. Big miss on 9 where the map was a bit lacking (>2mins) but OK other than that. Hoping I haven't done myself too much damage and will try save myself for the relay. Great run from Jon to get 2nd!

A spot of orienteering in the twilight at Polmaise. Hadn't planned for the heavily overcast, dark skies! bailed after 20 minutes of stumble-tripping and went for a run round the top.
Coming down with a headcold.

Sore ankle and left toe from yesterday so not up to actual orienteering. Let Matthew off round the yellow (he was brill! and went round with Hannah) then went for a terrain run with the map when J9 got back - boy this area is the toughest around! So, so furrowed!

Checking the permanent course controls on South Achray for the new Dounans Camp orienteering map. Good job I did this - two sites missing , lots needing moving slightly on the new map.
Terrain lovely this time of year! ;-)

FVO's last night race planned by hardcore Purves on Dumyat. At 7.7k straight line it was always gonna be a long one. With my knackered state and grumpy attitude it was gonna be even longer - can't believe I caught and passed Fanni and Jon in the last k !!!

Pizza at Corrieri's cheered me up. Ankle really not happy tonight but still in one piece.

Scottish CSC round on Dumyat. Up for it but not sure of shape. Went out hard knowing the last 15 would be downhill. Wobbles at 10 and 15 but not significant. Ankle only worrisome on the downs so can't complain. Happy. Club won as hoped. Great work from all. Esp Fraser (planner) MC (Organiser) and J9 (best String Course ever!).

Made the decision to stick with 4 early but worked hard, helped by drier conditions, better grips, tougher motivation.

Recovery run in the sunshine - 3.5 laps of the grounds. Most of my body feeling alright...apart from left ankle...

Usual work run. Not yet ready for intervals. Ankle is improving but got steadily more painful as I pounded along. Lungs suffering from a week's passive smoking!

Gathering Stone route - tentatively. Left ankle has weak stability and uncomfortable lateral movement. Good to be out though.

Had done the kids parkrun in the morning followed by an hour's roller blading (teaching Matthew). Kids learn fast!

A run along the Danube in Bratislava. Tried to follow a tourist map to get to the castle but paths from river side no longer exist. Ankle still bothersome but improving. Jas still not ready to go touristing at 11:45 FFS!

In Bratislava now. V nice penthouse apartment (for v little rent). Ankle might be improving. Hard to know what's discomfort from all-day touristing or legacy injury. Find out in the morning (subject to evening debauchery).
