Run warm up/down 10:00 [1]

11 AM

Orienteering race 42:00 [4]

Scottish Champs Relays, Rannoch

Happily in 3rd team, unlike some.
Went out to try and get round clean because I was a beaten man after yesterday. No energy, walked most of the hills and only sped up when I helped Fi for a leg.

Wish I could have been competetive in a handicap.

Run warm up/down 20:00 [2]

3 PM

Orienteering race 1:22:00 [5]

Scottish Championships Rannoch.

I hate late starts - 3:20pm!
After hanging around all day it took me a while to get motivated - nearly missed my start as my watch was wrong. Anyway got into the course well and I worked hard all the way round, one miss near the end and kicking myself for changing my mind mid-route on the long leg, but I wouldn't have been anywhere Wardy's 75 anyway. Great area, great course. Respect. 4th ;-(

Run 38:00 [4]

Was gonna do Plean but forgot to take my o shoes to work.
Gutted ;-)

Did a quick run from home - usual route to Gathering Stone and back. A bit quicker than normal.

Trying out my new Roclites. Not enough cushioning to be running on hard tracks - will be good for our local o sessions and the hilly runs we do.

Tuesday May 25, 2010 #

Run 48:00 [4]

Checking out an area with Rog - a potential JK 2012 area.

We think not.

Some nice crags and detail on the hill side but not more than 2km2 of it. the wood was pantsville.

Orienteering 1:10:00 [3]

Collecting controls at WOC Long race - got to collect all the top hill ones and the far white forest - gorgeous!

No compass, but plenty on the map to nav off.

Saturday May 15, 2010 #

Orienteering 45:00 [3]

Collecting in controls from WOC Middle race.

I had no trouble with the "green" control.

Orienteering 40:00 [3]

FVO WEE at Touch.
In the FC part of the wood, planned by James.
Pretty heavily brashed/snow damaged but some good technical orienteering and terrain running. Quit at no9 as running out of time to meet J9 and felt body wasn't ready for much more.

Tuesday May 11, 2010 #

Note

Post-Sasha recovery.

Delicate. Lunch for free courtesy of Torwood Garden Centre managemen, thanks Jamie/John!

Monday May 10, 2010 #

5 PM

Note

Saw Sasha the Magician.

Spine fused, rhomboids extra tight, scalene neck muscles damaged.
Falling at the JK? Carting around 10Kg boy? Or just getting old?

Don't feel well now, as usual.

Mountain Bike 50:00 [3]

Hosting the British Mountain Bike Orienteering Championships.
Long - Mabie.

Hung 4 controls and then went for a wee jog to test the ITB's. Holding out OK.

A very successful weekend, hosted by 5 people in total.

Saturday May 8, 2010 #

Mountain Bike 1:30:00 [3]

Hosting the British Mountain Bike Orienteering Championships.
Middle - Drumlanrig

Rode from cottage to event and back with Geoff.
Me and Matthew stuck out the finish and 4 controls - he's not a bad navigator!

Thursday May 6, 2010 #

Run 4:22 [2]

Jog at lunch.

It wasn't long before my ITB's cried. Turned for home.
Must see Janine !

Wednesday May 5, 2010 #

Fell Race 46:22 [5]

Dumyat Fell Race - Inaugural FVO Hill Champs.

Felt crap and fat and really struggled on this. ITB's held out till last drop to the stream and then they screamed back from there.

Terrible run for me and miles behind my pb. But I turned out ;-)

Run warm up/down 20:00 [3]

Monday May 3, 2010 #

Note
(rest day)

Knackered from the weekend.

Very tight ITB's and quads. Spent the day relaxing, not! Gardening.

Have not logged my efforts, unlike some!

Sunday May 2, 2010 #

Orienteering race 32:00 [5]

British Relays - M40 team, 3rd leg.

Beaten up from yesterday's run and ITB's killing. Took 800mg of Ibuprofen and gritted my teeth. Jon and Brad had done an excellent job of keeping us in the state of play, albeit it off the top 3 (very high quality field) and so I was motivated enough to race hard. Too many small mistakes for my liking and would have benefitted from being nearer Monro (NGOC) and further way from Dave (Clyde). 7th for the team.

Dixie would have done better than me and Brad.

Saturday May 1, 2010 #

Orienteering race 1:17:00 [5]

British Orienteering Champs, Cannock Chase.

Why did I enter this, I knew it would be a trail race with a few dashes into terrain thrown in and so it was. Managed to psyche myself up OK despite the last start (maybe because I knew Peely's time) and kicked off OK, nothing too taxing, just small misses where the map was worse than in other areas (they can't even map track junctions right!) and held it together in the poorly mapped "quarried" area.

A slog at the end and just hanging on..... 6th.

No surprise - a quality field in front and some far better runners beaten behind, I'm happy with that - given my extra weight.
