Looks like I just held out for last week!

Orienteering race 1:12:00 [4] 11.0 km (6:33 / km)

Spring cup relay leg 2 going out after Dave Schorah.
Unfortunately, Gareth wasn't well enough to even do the 3rd short leg and we had no fourth leg man so after waiting longer than expected for Dave I was motivated to go "hard". But I still went some and enjoyed a tough/tiring run.
Brilliant day for GB Juniors - 1st on M18 relay, 2nd on D18 relay and 10th in Mens Open! Best ever results!
Shame about the bumped flights and 9 hour journey home ;-(

Orienteering race 56:00 [5] 9.1 km (6:09 / km)

Spring Cup Classic H35
Me in a battle with the Czech Junior Team Coach Libor Zridkavesly. Libor has a few WOCs and WCs under his belt so narrowly managed to whupp my ass. Close though - if only I hadn't have wobbled a few in the middle section.

Easy Run warm up/down 30:00 [3]

Event: Spring-Cup

I whimped again.

Spent the afternoon driving from Gothenberg to Copenhagen.

Orienteering 50:00 [4]

Hanging controls in Ojersjo in the deepest snow yet - for the 1st leg mass start gaffled relay practise. I really suffered in the very deep snow and found it very hard to find the points - but I had to, and quickly!

Orienteering 50:00 [3]

Led the team out to training at Torslanda on the coast - nothing like JWOC but a quality area (planned training by the local club - Tolerod Utby).
All bare rock (well, where there wasn;t snow!) and some really good detail for some 1:5000 map training and then return jog back.

Orienteering 10:00 [3]

Hanging kites for the sprint training practise planned by GG.
Quality session, but Rhodri cut his hand pretty nicely!

Orienteering 1:00:00 [3]

Classic training on Rannebergen.
Very deep in snow I had to hang the first three kites and was caught by hector due to my dithering at the last. Then I ran out to the butterfly loop to watch them all through. Some great pics of people working hard in the snow - well hard!

Orienteering 51:00 [4]

Scandi type course in Jensered - our first look at Sweden in deep snow. It was tough! Didn't want to do too much.

Circuits 30:00 [3]

Core and strength training introduced by GG.
I was crap!

Easy Run warm up/down 15:00 [3]

Orienteering race 31:00 [5]

JK Relays.
FVO Mens 120+ team of Jon X, Steve B and me. Went out in 4th but new I had a chance to move up at least one place if I went hard and clean.
In the end I got a lucky easy gaffle and managed to hold Roger T off in a sprint for Silver. Bling, bling!

Orienteering race 1:15:00 [5]

JK Classic Day 2 on somewhere boring.
Ran hard and tried to be clean but wilted on a leg that had nearly 100m of climb. Did as best I could given the easy orienteering involved.

Orienteering race 1:11:00 [5]

JK Day Classic Day 1 on Leith Hill.
Ran strongly but missed twice in the detailed stuff (due to being unable to read the map). Still, satisfied that I hadn't lost more time.

Easy Run warm up/down 30:00 [3]

Included getting half way to the long start and having to go back for my dibber!

Run 59:59 [4]
max:169

FVO Headlamp run - the last for me as I'll be in Gothenberg next week.
What a great idea running round North Third! The run along the crags was excellent - fab views and good company - although a fresh Jon X and Rosco was a bit much for a tired Lard! Not quite one hour! OK Jon?

Intervals intervals 55:00 [5]
ahr:164 max:177

FVO intervals up on the pitches at Uni.
8 x 90 secs with 1 min recovery. Everyone was flying tonight - especially Abi with her new HR watch (max hit 206!).
Sore calf - having to stretch it off later.

JK Taper has begun!

Orienteering race 1:05:00 [5] ** 9.3 km (6:59 / km) +400m 5:45 / km
ahr:168 max:178

Compass Sport Cup Scottish Qualifying Round on Pentlands.
Nice start to the course then it went to boredom, improved a little towards the end but as a whole this was an -x-c race. Once I'd got into a rthythm and persuaded my bod that yes I can run up these hills things went well. Missed slightly on one or two at the NE end where controls were bingoey but other than that attacked the course well. Not surprised to be 8 minutes down.

Saturday Mar 15, 2008 #

Orienteering 53:00 [4]

Some quality training in the Trossachs - realy good course - wet underfoot (as it always is) but great day for training. Spiking controls a plenty!

Friday Mar 14, 2008 #

Easy Run 25:00 [3]

Quick jog from the office along Sustrans railway past Cobleland Campsite and up to Angela's at Gartmore and return. She wasn't it.
Legs felt terrible and I thought I was running like a real punter - probably was!

Thursday Mar 13, 2008 #

Note
(rest day)

Gonna have a nothe rrest and miss hills tonight. Legs feel like Oli's after the squad camp. Want to be better for the weekend.

Wednesday Mar 12, 2008 #

Easy Run 35:00 [3]

FVO Headlamp Run - from Doune. Turned up having forgot my shoes so had to drive home again. By then not in mood to run as hard as I wanted. Met Alibongo in the dark and we cruised round together. Glad I got out and in hindsight it wasn't a bad thing I had an easy run. legs still hurting from the weekend.

Tuesday Mar 11, 2008 #

Intervals intervals 45:00 [4]
max:177

FVO Intervals - first time this year on the football pitches. Not very sheltered! Managed to do 6 x 2/1 quite well - full session was 8. Rosco didn't look like he'd done 3 hard races at the weekend! ;-(
Good to see the majority of the group was under 18!

Monday Mar 10, 2008 #

Note
(rest day)

Mmmm. Managed to get down the stairs and off to work but this chair seems awful hard to get out of right now. No circuits for me tonight - sorry Ross.

Fell Race race 1:51:00 [5] 12.0 mi (9:15 / mi) +800m 7:40 / mi

Deuchary Canter. After the last two days I am dead! Set out for a long run and tried to keep heart rate high but not too high. Some really bad trail marking and map marking meant I cought loads of people looking for check point one and got ahead of quite a few across felled later too. Meant I had a slightly better overall results than I should have - still got whupped by Mudgey and Todd ran past me laughing again! What's up with my ass???? Very very sore thighs now - will struggle with the stairs in the morning!

Easy Run warm up/down 20:00 [3]

Saturday Mar 8, 2008 #

Fell Race 40:00 [5]

Birnam Hill Race - dead from yesterday and I cxan't run up steep hills anyway - fast-walked to hold Brad off till 1/3 of way up then Mairi Todd ran past me laughing! Took a tumble on way down and lost three places - so didn't even get 3rd lady! Pathetic!

Easy Run warm up/down 20:00 [3]

Friday Mar 7, 2008 #

Fell Race 32:00 [5]

Well, trail race - Birnam - first of 3 races this weekend - Boundary Fault series. Headlamp race starting at the hermitage at 8pm. Neither I or Ross in the mood but spirit of race kicks in quick. Ross wins with Dixie 2nd - I got dragged offf the wrong way with Mudge and Adam Ward - lost about 2 mins I reckon which meant I had to work had to pass all the punters that had gone the right way. Finished 5th and knackered - damn, two more races to go!

Easy Run warm up/down 25:00 [3]

Thursday Mar 6, 2008 #

Note

Knackered - don't even know what day of the week it is eh Will??!!!

Wednesday Mar 5, 2008 #

Orienteering 1:30:00 [3]

Hanging, starting, collecting controls for FVO's last night O race at Achray.
Set out at 4:30 and back into the pub at 8:15 so quite a long night on the go - feeling it this morning!

Tuesday Mar 4, 2008 #

Intervals 58:00 [4]

FVO intervals. The last of 4 week in terrain - took the group to some marshy/tussocky ground at East end of Loch at the Uni. A good warm up and then 12 x terrain intervals (about 1 min) followed by 1 min jog recovery. Worked out pretty well with the tussocks and a small hill to climb - everyone was gutting themselves - good effort!

Monday Mar 3, 2008 #

Circuits 42:00 [3]

Managed to make circuits for the first time this year.
Good to see Ross the Regular there.
I'll hurt tomorrow!

Sunday Mar 2, 2008 #

Orienteering 55:00 [3]

V tired today after yesterday (not sleeping well at the hostel either).
Did some of one course and then went and collected a large bunch on the northern end of the tricky stuff (much easier with the rides on the map!).

Saturday Mar 1, 2008 #

Orienteering 50:00 [4]

GB Squad weekend - staying at Slochd Summit. Morning session at Rogie - cold but dry'ish - followed Hector, then Pippa, then Hollie for most of the course - she was going really well!

Orienteering 1:28:00 [3]

Orienteering and then control collecting in Roseisle.
1:15000 in the detail - I had not chance - I can't see the ground let alone the map - hence I was out for ages -need to get my eyes sorted before the British!
