Callander Park - seeing Matthew off then out for a jog then picking him up before he got to the "in the wrong place" control.
Steve tried. Better than most folk.

Sore in groin and hip flexors. Lots of stretching and trying to stay active. Tired.

Fell Race 4:37:58 [4] 42.89 km (6:29 / km) +645m 6:02 / km

The Llarig Ghru race Braemar to Aviemore police stations.
Left home at 7:30am slightly sleep deprived but the drive
over Glenshee some woke me up. Not much warming up, plenty of familiar faces to catch up with. Started reasonably back as I heard the road runners took it out fast. Settled in at 5:15s chatting with Zoe H and Hazel W. This was a good distraction and we were at Mar Lodge before I knew it. We broke up at Derry where Zoe kept going (strong!) and I went for a pee and got water. Loved it from then on..lots of rough path running and rick hopping. Sadly a big shower had come through and the big rock on the top were quite treacherous (Murray missed this). I stumbled a few times but managed to save myself. Sadly, one of these stumbles eventually turned to cramp in my inner thigh to groin when entering Rothiemurchus and I had to stop on two occasions. Thereafter I was reduced to a shuffle and had growing hip flexor pain. Stuck it out to the end but was a right sight and glad to finish. It's funny how everyone runs down the high street at the end when there's a perfectly good underpass that pops right out at the police station. Got 2 places knowing this! Bucket list - tick.

Run 21:00 [2]

Twinged my left calf mowing the back lawn last night (failed to stretch post orienteering). Hobbling this morning. Went for a jog to see if it was a game-changer. Thankfully, it appears to be superficial (but will need managing) and I only felt it on the steeper inclines. I'll be fine. Stretching after.

Orienteering race 35:43 [4] 5.0 km (7:09 / km)

FVO WEE at Tulliallan planned by Fraser.
Fab wee course taking in the police grounds and better bits of the wood. Ran hard, loved it. Felt quite fit (no surprise). A few wobbles and some shoelace tying - can't wait to get back to o when I'm unbroken from Sunday.

Run 2:14:34 [3] 20.64 km (6:31 / km) +582m 5:43 / km

Home - Waltersmuir Reservoir - Tour of Dumyat round to Blairlogie, up through Hermitage and up the road to Minewoods - Upper Glen Road - Glen Road - home.

Niggles rather than total pain today, which is good. Sweating buckets in the hot and humid weather - lots 1.5kg in weight!

Followed by 4 hours of hard labour in the garden.

Run 1:00:57 [3] 11.81 km (5:10 / km) +73m 5:00 / km

From work. River Tay long loop followed by 1.5 laps of the grounds to make it up to an hour. Seem to be managing my niggles just about OK (touch wood).

Run 1:00:02 [3] 10.05 km (5:58 / km) +212m 5:24 / km

In Galloway. Was hoping to run up Merrick but knee has to avoid excessive climbing so did a loop of Loch Trool instead. Ran down the same track that led me and John Pickering to the finish of the KIMM in 1986. Caldons campsite, now deserted. 31 years ago....Feck me!

11 AM

Run 1:56:59 [3] 17.94 km (6:31 / km) +275m 6:03 / km

Dropped on the ski road and ran out to the Chalamain Gap (never done this before - wicked!) with a plan to go through and try run to Pools of Dee before turning round. Sadly a bad weather squall saw me soaked and cold in the Ghru and I chose to turn when I hit the valley and then recce the route from there to Aviemore Police Station. Lots of rocks, lots of sliding (in the rain) lots of forest, lots of road, but at least I now know where the route goes for the last hour or so. Left knee sore (as expected) and pronation ligaments in the ankle. Nothing some ibuprofen and a bottle of wine can't sort.

Orienteering 50:00 [2]

ticking out controls for the WEE at Little Druim Wood & Duncraggan - Brig O Turk with help from GG - thanks mate!
The lots of blue arsed fly activity looking like I knew what I was doing.
I don't think anyone noticed. 45 happy campers.
A sunny evening between two evenings of downpours

Tuesday Jun 6, 2017 #

12 PM

Run 20:30 [2]

Recovery jog. Engine good, wheels not so good - left knee uncomfortable (not painful) and ankle ligaments (pronation) grumbling. I think I'll have to postpone Thursday's planned long run.

Saturday Jun 3, 2017 #

11 AM

Run 3:00:08 [3] 24.56 km (7:20 / km) +763m 6:21 / km

Done straight after a family swim where I got to be the playground equipment for the kids to clamber on. Home to Duymat-Menstrie-Blairlogie-up the shoulder of Dumyat through the woods and across to car park, through Pendreich to Cockburns Reservoir then Minewoods and down to BofA - Here's where knee gave in and I had to hobble back up the Darn path and up the rhodey path and up to the back woods and home. Determined to do 3 hours but needing to reduce the descending to save the knee. Hopefully (touch wood) nothing too serious. Knackered.

Orienteering 52:30 [2] 5.5 km (9:33 / km)

Checking courses and control sites in Little Druim Wood.
Some absolutely gorgeous legs in there and I've re-thought most courses to make it even nicer. The views over the loch were exceptional today. Lurverly!
