Working in Inverness. Sunny evening so a pleasant run from Woodpark round the town (in the woods) into Beachen Woods and up the valley north. A track took me to a trod that took me to the top of Gorton Hill. Great views of the hills. From there it was cross country back down the hill and through scrub till I picked up the path to rejoin the route back. Pleasant.

Pleased to have put in two reasonable weeks of running. The injury in the ankle is almost settled, just lots of other sore bits now!
Wiped out today (probably to do with sharing a bed with Matthew all weekend).

Started with the wrong attitude and balls'd no 3 big time (7.5 mins?). Didn't care thereafter so turned into a training session. Nice terrain, worked OK through it but me and the map will never see eye to eye.

Tried to work hard on this - helped by knowing where the map was unreliable. Caught Fanni up half way round and had a good ding-dong till I dropped her off the hill. Enjoyed this.

Working in Inverness (went up last night) returning down A9 after work - caught in roadworks after roadworks. Took advantage of the detour at Killiecrankie to park at the VC and run down to Soldier's Leap and on to Killiecrankie pass and River Gary bunjee jump and found a wee route to circle round and back. Nice and cool in the shade of the trees.

A run in Mabie before Janine's second race. Legs knackered after yesterday so this was very steady. Enjoyed the single track red route running and found a lovely walker's path hill climb.
Afternoon spent with kids at Mabie Park Farm - great fun!

British Mountain Bike Orienteering Championships - Dalbeattie.
Family weekend in Galloway & Dumfries - pursuaded Janine to come away and do this (to get her to take part). Enjoyed the ride but had a very heavy £200 bike and really struggled on the climbs. Good training. 7th out of 8 folk on the Mens Open. Way down on leaders.

A nice mtb ride out and up and round Moncrieffe Hill. Managed to ride everything, including steep single track up to the hill forts. Great views. Good ride. Might do this again...

Family bike ride from Druridge Bay to Amble and Bike. Real nice tea shop at the far end and then a couple of hours on the beach after. Fab!
Followed by meal at the Three Wheat Heads in Thropton - great views of Simonside and a kids play garden to die for!

Run from by the river at Angram over the hills to the holiday house. Not too many useful tracks on the hills so in terrain for a lot of it. Got quite nettled trying to take an unused path through a forest. Great to be out and for the body not to be complaining (too much).

Talked myself out of the M40 team (right choice) but thus placed in the 2nd men's open team - sorry guys! Empty from yesterday so this run went from bad to worse, especially as I had brain fuzz at the far end. Not a pretty sight, sorry to have let the two others (Will and Steve F) down.
Knackered.
