Mountain Bike 1:35:00 [4]

MTB ride into Anagach and beyond with Dr Tullie. Weather a bit dreich but plenty of good banter and beautiful Speyside trails. Cold to the bone by the end (tiring) but good fun!

Working in Inverness tomorrow so up to Grantown in time to make a local event on Beachen Wood. I braved the 2.6k course (failed on direction quite a bit, without a compass) and went for a warm down. Ankle OK but await the next day effects.
Pushed it quite hard when I could.

Working in Inverness so well-timed trip to Grantown to run in the local Beachen Wood event.
Did the short 2.6k course and them a warm down. Worked hard but failed on a number of controls to go straight (no compass).
Ankle seemed OK'ish.

Saem route as yesterday, even more of a headwind and a bit chillier. But what was worst was my sore bits and my thighs - really not good at this bike lark... I will persevere.

One week since I've exercised. Ankle not much improved. Cycling's the name.....
Steady ride out to Braco, Greenloaning and Sheriffmuir. So lucky where we live - all that ride and apart from the crossing the A9 I saw two vehicles.

JK day 2 Merthyr Common. 2 mins late for start. Snuck through so not really ready for no 1. First part of course was runnable and went well. No issues until long leg when it got ankle twistyer and leg started really hurting. Lost a bit of focus round 12 to 15 and then in real pain on next long leg and after. Pleased I got round but too damaged to run any more days. Gutted. Would have had a chance to fight for a podium. Well chuffed with Janines run !

Ebor event a Prye Rigg . My chance to test the lower limbs and see if I can cope with the JK. Passed with an affirmative. Managed to win the blue (top)course beating Joe Taunton, Jonny K and Jules. I think I will struggle with the distance mind....

My coach ordered me to do and easy flattish session (nearly didn't) and so I did.Sunny day, feeling still a bit under the weather but good to be out. Right calf/achilles eased off after 10, then the left one came on....

Flabbergasted by the failure to host an orienteering event in Portugal today - it seems we've lost sight of the basics.

Tired again tonight - still under the weather somewhat and ankle/calf not happy. Lots of extra stretching.

Despite not being able to train regularly my more disciplined approach to eating is working. 0.2Kg off my Easter target.

Feeling decidedly unelite on route to 1 and went downhill from there. No speed, no strength, no flow, not good.

Colzium - training with the family. Very wett!
Jogged out to start, missed the biggest climb on the course but worked at the rest. 4.5k of o'in in 32 mins. Felt rubbish, had no proprieception or core, no hill strength and no flat speed. But calf/achilles holding out.

Run with GG round Cowie and Gallamuir Wood - potential new area(s). Wet conditions but nice to be out. Legs behaving but feeling flat. Cowie would make a good sprint, Gallamuir a decent forest 1:7500 potentially - very runnable!

Worked in Edinburgh in the morning and took the opportunity to work from home after and sneek in a day training session.
Wanting a hard one but wary about my calf I took the road bike to the Sheriffmuir Road for intervals.
From the junction to where the road meets woodland and it flattens out.

Easy spin home after. Cycling into a cold north easterly and no overshoes - chilly!
