Note

Dug the car out from where we had to dump it on Sunday (half a maile from home) and got into work and some provisions.

Not sure if I'm gonna make it back home, might have to dump the car back in the same spot.....

Too knackered from snow clearing to go running.

Run 42:00 [3]

Managed to drag myself out at 4pm from work. Didn't know when my next run might be given all this snow.
Usual route round Kings Park, a bit tougher tonight.

Monday Nov 29, 2010 #

Walk 1:00:00 [2]

Walked with fanily into the village, checked nursery (closed) and then to Tescos (open but getting empty) and then back home via High Street. Everything under deep snow and a good workout for the legs.

Some shovelling to do now as the plough won't reach us until tomorrow I reckon.....

Sunday Nov 28, 2010 #

Run 53:00 [3] 9.0 km (5:53 / km) +300m 5:03 / km
max:151

Tired after yesterday's run, started out with Andy but he was in training mode and we soon split. Headed up the valley, through snowy fields towards the viaduct and M6 then back along the river, eventually picking up the Dales Way. Hard to find the footpaths and wall crossings but in glorious conditions..... Nice.

Headed home to find Dunblane closed off.
Had to leave the car half a mile from home and hoik it home which was under 2 foot I reckon.

Run 1:37:00 [4] 13.4 km (7:14 / km) +858m 5:29 / km
ahr:147 max:170

In the Howgills, cottage with Andy and Toni. A beautiful crisp sunny day with a few inches of snow to make the place look great. We let the girls get in a run first and then Andy and I headed out in the afternoon. Unfortunately, the snow clouds had moved in and we were in reduced visibility on the tops and having to use the compass to check our way. Once we'd got the major climb up out of the way the ridge run along the Howgill tops was excellent (Andy taking it easy while I worked hard).
Lovely - 927 calories burnt and replaced with 4 minced pies ;-)

Friday Nov 26, 2010 #

Note

A well earned rest day.

On way to Howgills for a weekend with Andy and Toni.

Run 1:37:00 [4] 14.0 km (6:56 / km) +650m 5:37 / km
ahr:130 max:161

OMG again!

Another cold clear night and another hilly terrain/trail run, this time with Dixie and Jon X. Turned out to be quite a long one (route my choice/fault this time!).

Parked at Cambusbarron quarry, headed west to check out Murray's Wood (now mature and runnable but will be bracken-fest in summer), over Castlehill towards Sauchie Crags, then round the reservoir anticlockwise, up to the trig on Lewis Hill, back on undulating track along the top of the crags through Middle Third Wood, then back to the ford and back through the quarry to the cars. Very enjoyable, a good run!

I can hardly get down the steps this morning !

Run 1:16:00 [5]

OMG!

When Jon fancies a run up the back of Dumyat next time say No!
Out along a nice route towards Menstrie Glen and then vertical for the next 20 minutes solid. Tried my best to run all the way but lost it on the steepest section just before the top. My mind kept telling me to walk, given that I'm recovering from a cold, but being male you just can't....
Great evening to be out (in your shorts, not) crispy underfoot and starry night.
Legs dead, despite lonmg warm down.

Run 46:00 [3]

Went exploring down riverside and Raploch. A good track round the back of Raploch and nice to hald way round Riverside but then developers have been allowed to close/block off the path round the river - annoying.
Back over the castle home. Sunny !

Monday Nov 22, 2010 #

A great turnout tonight and some loud pumping tunes.

People working hard and looking like these sessions are paying off.

Orienteering race 47:00 [5]
ahr:161 max:181

FVO Club Champs. South Achray.
I told myself I should go steady on this one. I managed till then end of the track before no 1 and then I couldn't resist pushing.

Orienteering really well and attacking the terrain. Shame about my no-brainer on the way down to Doonans which lost me about 4 minutes.

The best man won - Dixie.

Orienteering 25:00 [2]

Collected in all the open controls on the way to the old office.

Slow but steady, tight calfs.

Sunday Nov 7, 2010 #

Run race 44:35 [5] 10.26 km (4:21 / km) +320m 3:46 / km
ahr:169 max:179

My only chance to get in a run was to visit the rellies near Edinburgh and go do the Lasswade Open X-C.

Started steady (wanting to survive) and hung in from there. A very very muddy course with some tussocks and running through nettles to avoid the worst of the mud. A painfull 3 laps of the bing with two tough (for a fat lad) hill climbs. Finished within a minute of Fraser and in one piece so well pleased.

Caked in mud. Fun.

Saturday Nov 6, 2010 #

Walk 1:00:00 [2]

All I could manage was a wee walk round Abbey Craig with Matthew in the backpack.

Friday Nov 5, 2010 #

Run 43:00 [3]

An easy run required after yesterday's harder than expected effort.
Met up with Jon X and Steve Nich for the usual loop of Kings Park.
Heavens fully open for this one!

Thursday Nov 4, 2010 #

Run 1:15:00 [4]

Headlamp run with Dixie and Jon X up Callander Crags and the big loop round to Bracklin Falls (serious waterfall) and new bridge.
A painful climb up the crags and then two further lung busters.....!
Fish and Chips and then onto the quiz, what a night.

Monday Nov 1, 2010 #
