Road Bike 1:30:00 [3]

Had to go to Callander Park to hand over SI kit, but in no shape to race around such a fast area. So Janine and I trundled off towards the Carron Valley and did a steady circular ride from near North Third. Getting very blustery - I think we chose the right way around! And getting dark as we returned to the car!

Run 30:00 [3]

Not well enough to go to intervals but needed to exercise the legs so went out back. A few loops of the back wood before I got bored and hopped over the wall to do some gardening.

Orienteering race 1:05:00 [4]

SOL - Ecko - Ardnaskie.
Legs and lungs feeling rough from yesterday's events and a poor night's sleep in a 4' wide bed (I fell out at one point!).Tried to run strong and clean but had nothing on the hills. Despite this I went OK and am happy to be just 4 minutes down on the leader - Ben Hartman.

A great weekend of O!

Run warm up/down 30:00 [3]

I was late for my start it was that far away!

Orienteering 49:00 [4]

Inverawe Country Park - Ecko 1 of 3 event.
Nice area, great mix and variety. Not much in my lungs though with the cold hanging on so treat it as training and tried to navigate clean - hence - quite a good run!

Run warm up/down 30:00 [2]

All today's warm up and downs

Orienteering race 18:54 [5] 3.0 km (6:18 / km)

Ecko's Oban Street Race.
Beautiful evening, nice jog along from the B&B to the leisure centre and then after a short wait 3k flat out round a hilly Oban town. Course didn't have much technical challenge too it so I tried as hard as my gunge filled lungs would let me - but I was well off the pace, as expected.

A great meal on the harbour with beautiful sunset - I love West Scotland!

Cold still pretty bad.
Might manage to wash the car tonight.....

Note
(sick)

Jamie's cold has finally caught me - suspect this will be me till the weekend.

Intervals intervals 55:00 [4]

FVO intervals - short ones on the football pitches.
Great night but I was under the weather so could only support.
3 x 15/30/45/30/15 with 30 secs rest and 2 mins between sets.
Elle working hard!

Sunday Apr 19, 2009 #

Orienteering race 1:13:00 [5]

Graythwaite event.
Excellent area, nice and technical and tough and great fun!
Ran well, missed a bit on the first long route choice but great from there, pretty clean all the way - hence kicked the M40's butts and was only beaten by and ex World Champs team member - Dicky Wren.

Run warm up/down 25:00 [2]

Run 1:00:00 [3]

Running here and there and everywhere setting up the Time Trial.
Great day, great weather, great athletes.
well done to all who dared.

Run 53:00 [3]

FVO run from Stirling Uni.
Me, Rog, Dave C and Peggy - chose to head to Wallace Monument for a kind of flattish run! Easy banter for me and Rog, followed by pub for just 3 people - a record low!

Tuesday Apr 14, 2009 #

Mountain Bike 1:05:00 [3]

A mountain bike circular trip to Warkworth village with James W and Janine. Some good sights.
Followed by a group walk with buggy from Caister to Dunstanburgh Castle, Embleton Sands and on to Newton by the Sea - and a refreshing beer!

Monday Apr 13, 2009 #

Orienteering race 29:46 [5]

JK Relays.
FVO's crack M120+ team - Dear Prudence.
Roger, Deano and I (me being the weak link!).
Roger got us off to a great start by flying round with the pack and sending Dixie off just in the lead. Dixie had the best run of the day I reckon by blitzing round his course and annihilating the competition - sending me out with a comfortable 1 minute plus lead.
I wasn't to know though was I !!! Poo'ing my pants most of the way round thinking that SYO would be right on my tail.
I stuck to my strategy - keep it clean and safe and if they catch then maybe I'll have something left. In the end I needed no reserve tank - came up the run-in to applause and I was a happy winner. A most excellent and deserved result from 3 great runs - SYO drubbed! Oh what a day ;-)

Run warm up/down 20:00 [2]

Nervous!

Orienteering race 1:16:29 [5]

JK Day 3 - Detchant, and the rest.
Started OK and got into my stride. The only major mistake was at the boulder contouring leg later on - where the boulder was much lower than shown and I took the gamble to go up the hill rather than down. Poor mapping here, and towards the end of the course led to some skewed results - ie Roger should have won!

Run warm up/down 20:00 [2]

Orienteering race 1:16:48 [5]

JK Day 2 at Kyloe.
felt slow and tired but pushed well all the way around. Leading the course at 9 before my big mistake - bearing from 9 took me to 11 instead of 10 - somehow Richard B and I both managed to do this. I then I thought I was at 10 and so then navigated towards 11, before working out what I'd done. 3.5 minutes lost and dropped from 1st to 3rd. hey - ho. Tiring towards the end.

Run warm up/down 25:00 [2]

Arrived too early for my start so got in a very good warm up and managed to do a warm down afterwards too.

Thursday Apr 9, 2009 #

Note
(rest day)

Taking things cautiously before the weekend. Still feeling tired but not half as bad as Tuesday.
Lie-in tomorrow cos I ain't off for a morning start at the JK sprints!
This add-on evening event has turned into something way too big!

Run 1:02:00 [3]

FVO Run from the Woodside Inn at Doune.
Feeling remarkably better today and helped by the fact I was up for this new run. Still, ran steady and sensibly.
Fabulous run through Doune Ponds and across to the Earl of Moray's place for a wee wander round his fabby gardens then down and across to the river before the Wood of Doune at the end.
A beautiful weather evening and a glorius run to boot.
Good banter and basic grub (plenty!) at the pub after. I do like Doune!

Tuesday Apr 7, 2009 #

Note
(sick)

Feeling pretty dreadful today - cumulative effect I think of the training, work etc. Slept for most of the afternoon/evening.

Monday Apr 6, 2009 #

Pilates 30:00 [3]

FVO's final Strength & Conditioning of the season. I have enjoyed running these. Many thanks for everyone turning up and enjoying the session too!

Circuits 40:00 [4]

Circuits, incl warm up and fun and games after.
Very sore shoulders from the wheelbarrow races!

Across to the India Gate to spend the profits and celebrate a successful season's training with 13 other FVO'ers.... Cheers!

Sunday Apr 5, 2009 #

Orienteering race 1:14:00 [4]

SOL at Auchingarrich.
not feeling too good upon arrival and didn't really want to go out.
I think I was a bit ill but not knowingly....
Ran OK until I got lost in the middle - map didn't fit. then lost motivation a bit. Not until I downloaded before I realised I'd picked up the wrong map! Blummin' stupid colour system!

Run warm up/down 25:00 [2]

Saturday Apr 4, 2009 #

Orienteering race 33:00 [5]

British Sprint Champs on Stirling Uni x 2.
First course too easy after first few controls so was never gonna win that one, second course, navigated too much rather than running so go beaten again!

2nd placed on M35 behind Dave Godfree (still running elite).
Pretty happy with that.

Run warm up/down 50:00 [3]

2 lots of warm ups and downs.

Run 59:00 [3]

It turns out I did kick some pretty big butts last weekend!

http://runners.worldofo.com/januszporzycz.html
http://runners.worldofo.com/liborzridkavesely.html

A JWOC Gold and both having top 20s in the Worlds!

FVO evening run from Uni. Headed out to Bridge of Allan to avoid the University, up into the Minewoods and slowly back from there. A steady run on a beautiful evening. Banter at Westerton after.
