Orienteering race 1:07:40 [5] 8.0 km (8:28 / km) +541m 6:19 / km
ahr:163 max:173

Twin Peak Day 2 - Classic on torver Low Common. Much nicer map to get into and nicer open, but didn't like the veg mapping. The planning made good use of the woodland (2 loops) which was pretty stoney but not as slippy as yesterday. Thankful of an early ish start and working hard from the beginning. Some mistakes later on due to tiredness and not taking enough from the map but not more than 2 mins lost. Thankfully Wardy had chosen not to run today so I managed another win.

Course winner on M40 and Janine course winner on W21 too! Mugs galore!

Run warm up/down 20:00 [3]

Event: Twin Peaks

Orienteering race 34:35 [5] 4.3 km (8:03 / km) +322m 5:51 / km
ahr:167 max:175

Twin Peaks Middle Race.
Up for this because it's an old gits cup race. Started too fast and promptly overshot no 1 but kept going and going. A really tough start to the course with lots of climb. Thankfully I had Ackers in my sights out on the open and it pushed me along, and him. Didn't like the last slope, heights of features not right but I survived the course with not too many errors. Beaten by Rog but winning M40.

Run warm up/down 20:00 [3]

Run 37:00 [4]

Run at work with David and his dogs.
Not feeling spritely, and heavy legged. Hope I'm just tired.
Calfs really tight from Wednesday, not sure if I can run a half marathon never mind a big one!

Orienteering race 1:06:00 [5]
ahr:168 max:179

FVO Night O planned by Louise on Laigh Hills and Dunblane.
What a fab race and loads of gaffles, right from the beginning. Absolutely no idea who was doing well but I was passed by Kalvis about 1/3 way round so suspect I was doing OK and then battled with Rog until I thought I'd outnavigated him (not outrun, he was going stronger). Unfortunately, it transpired I'd missed a loop, aaargh!
It was great fun and so I have no regrets.
6km, ran 7.4 with 200m in 36:39.

10 minutes warm up and 20 minutes warm down collecting controls on the way home.

Cracking soup and banter at Elle's after, top job!

It felt tough, I hope everyone else was suffering too!

Run 1:13:12 [4] 12.27 km (5:58 / km) +525m 4:55 / km

A run with Jules in Richmond. I wasn't feeling too fab and Jules was very fresh from his months of resting up. Still, good to get out in the snow, not many views though due to the fog.
A grand weekend at Jules and Becca, Isla and Panda's.

Run 1:05:00 [4]
max:169

First run back in a while where I didn't feel too bad.
A hilly and quite fast paced run with Jon, Ross, Roger, Elle and Kalvis up into Bridge of Allan, Minewoods, reservoir, onto base of Dumyat and back through the woods.
Very muddy but great to be out.
Good craik and grub at the Westerton too.

Orienteering 59:00 [3] 6.6 km (8:56 / km) +360m 7:01 / km

Janine was keen to go to the Darnaway event.
So I entered the blue hoping I'd be able to get round.
No energy, really tired and had to walk all the steep hills. Despite fairly dull planning (4 controls in open) one control in the wrong place and some grotty sections I enjoyed most of this and glad to have got out.
Real tired.

Janine now coming down with what I had!

Saturday Feb 12, 2011 #

Note
(sick)

Sickness and diarrhoea. Nice.

Friday Feb 11, 2011 #

Run 35:02 [4]

Run at lunch with David.
I was after an easy run but it was cold and wet and so we ran quicker to get warm, and quicker, and quicker until we were full on.
Not nice weather, wet and muddy underfoot but the hard effort took my mind off it!

Note
(sick)

Threw up my lunch late afternoon.
Sick all evening.

Thursday Feb 10, 2011 #

Note

Resting.
Hydro therapy with Matthew in the morning.

Wednesday Feb 9, 2011 #

Orienteering race 42:00 [5]

FVO Night Race, Stirling Town.
Plenty of woods and open aswell as urban here. Held myself back by going straight to no1 and then struggled to catch it back thereafter.
Headlamp went after 20 mins but thankfully that was most of the non-urban stuff covered.

It meant I had to do some mega map memory using street lights and struggled to come down through the woods at the end, hence why I didn't beat everyone.
Great meal and craik at the Portcullis afterwards.

Run warm up/down 10:00 [2]

Tuesday Feb 8, 2011 #

12 PM

Intervals intervals 43:00 [4]

Out with David from work.

David 3:06, 3:03, 3:00

He's strong....

Felt good to do some grinding again. 4 next week. Touch wood.
