PWT Final. Such a great experience to be in this sort of race. Despite the pressure at the start which I had never faced before I kept my calm and caught Dave Abrams 1 min at No.8 and went straight past him. Then it all went wrong. Leaving 16 I tried to go down the other flight of steps to the south and realised it was a dead end. Then got confused and went left instead of right out of the car park and did an extra 200m of running round the block. Then went 17-19-18-19 and Peter caught me 2 mins after I was beating him at No.15. After that it was game over so sauntered round the last loop to finish last. Despite my terrible result I was doing wellbefore I screwed up. Such an incredible experience tho being in that race with all the crowds and the TV screen. I've got the bug bad now, and that wont be the last time I get to be in such races.

Really positive that I know that even now, when i've done no speed work since before the JK and been unable to run much for the last month, I still have the speed to match any other junior, and I just need the experience of more big races like this. Plus had a wee chat with a jounalist from some stirling paper. What a celeb.

Running 25:00 [1] *** 4.0 km (6:15 / km)

PWT Qualifier. Was doing ok and only a few minor wobbles, so was in 5th at the spectator control ~10mins in. Blew 20s at 16 from not taking a good line across the open. Good position but still a lot more to work on.

Running 20:00 [1] 3.0 km (6:40 / km)
shoes: Inov-8 X Talon 212

wee warm up jog on my own then a bit more with Ed.

Note

went out fer a wee leg stretch to test the knee and see how im feeling. Despite not running much atm Im feeling really good apart from the knee, which int as bad as it was. Really looking forward to this weekend and reckon im still capable of a good performance if the ol knee holds up.

Note

ok, so
went to the physio who Lorna recomended me last spring who used to work with the GB O team. turns out my left knee naturally hyper extends and when combined with sore hamstrings after caerketton put extra pressure on the cushioning bit under my knee cap which became inflamed. Now i need to strengthen up the quads and hamstrings and loosen my hip flexors, which im proud to say are the tightest she had ever seen :P this means for the next few weeks I do lots of cycling and strength stuff and only run as much as I can w/o pain. Turns out she is currently writing a paper on this injury so was interested in it and has seen a few other people recently with the same pain and muscle imbalance.

Strength and Conditioning 45:00 [1]

new physio exercises took agees.
