Long run from Dorking in the Surrey Hills with Warwick Wyber.
Plan was to do the Surrey Hills route, and we ran the first 90 minutes at a decent pace, but then Harold's lack of recent running (due to an ankle injury) meant he was struggling a bit, so we cut a bit out and headed back to Dorking fairly slowly for an excellent cafe lunch.

After I said I was going to run hills today, Fanni was telling me stories about Sarolta Monspart (Hungarian WOC champion 1972, first European woman to run under 3h marathon) running up the hill under the chairlift to Janos-Hegy, so I decided to do that.
3 times 1.5km with about 300m climb each time. First part was up a cobbled footpath with widely spaced steps, then it was probably a downhill MTB track most of the rest of the way, right under the chairlift route - very steep in places, but runnable all the way. Then it was round the station at the top, and up the athletics track to by the tower at the top of Janos-Hegy.
Going down was worse as the ground was frozen solid and I had very little grip - very steep and slippery in places. Tough session. Managed to pace it pretty well though - 11:16, 11:25, 11:27 for the 3 reps.

Legs feeling pretty wrecked today - the ground is frozen solid everywhere, so it is quite hard to find soft places to run. Took the bus up to the forest today and ran a 'flat' loop. Climbed up the tower at the top for the view, but it was pretty hazy today.
As always on trips to Budapest, I am eating and drinking huge amounts - have to train hard to justify it!

Great long run in the Budai-Hegyseg (NW Budapest Hills). Really is a runners paradise. There is even a new running loop made out of spongey athletics track type surface which goes all the way to the top of the hill, and has signs all along it saying "runners only" - which most people there seem to ignore.
