Easy run from home. Cromlix and Kinbuck, plus extra exploring around Cromlix - would be a good little Wednesday night area.

Earning a Stansfield cooked breakfast.

GB Mountain Running Champs - Skiddaw.
Keswick up to Latrigg, couple of loops up and down, then to the top of Skiddaw. 11.3km 1100m climb.

Pace was high from the start, and Andy Douglas sprinted off into the distance immediately. I settled in a group from about 4th to 10th place, mostly England vests around. This got gradually whittled down until on the second Latrigg loop it was me and 2 England runners, with about 10-20s up to 2nd and 3rd place.

Got into a good rhythm on the steep climb, and was closing on the guys in front. Decided I was here to get a top 3 if I could, and 3rd was tantalisingly close so I pushed on away from my group. Felt great and was closing in... until I wasn't, and I was working way too hard with still 2km of climbing to go. The 'group' caught me again, Chris Farrell had the most left and chased after the others in front, and I didn't quite have enough left to stay in front of Max Nicholls, so I finished up 6th. I really dropped a lot in the last 2km, but then if you don't try you never know! Good learning experience.

Balloch. 10 mins rain for every 30 mins surveying. Not fun. Getting fed up.
